Transactive response DNA binding protein 43 kD (TDP43), encoded by the tardbp gene, is a member of heterogenous nuclear ribonucleoproteins family. In this study, a gradual upregulation of TDP43 messenger RNA was observed in either Ctenopharyngodon idella kidney cells or zebrafish following stimulation with B-DNA, grass carp reovirus, or spring viremia of carp virus. Moreover, grass carp reovirus stimulation enhances the dimerization, phosphorylation, and cytoplasm-to-nucleus translocation of TDP43 in zebrafish (DrTDP43).

Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths globally and a key hindrance to extending life expectancy. Celastrol (CEL) demonstrates excellent antitumor activity, but faces challenges like low solubility and a narrow therapeutic window, limiting its clinical application. To address these limitations, drug combinations and nano-delivery systems have emerged as effective solutions.

In the repair of large bone defects, loss of the periosteum can result in diminished osteoinductive activity, nonunion, and incomplete regeneration of the bone structure, ultimately compromising the efficiency of bone regeneration. Therefore, the research and development of tissue-engineered periosteum which can replace the periosteum function has become the focus of current research. The functionalized electrospinning periosteum is expected to mimic the natural periosteum and enhance bone repair processes more effectively.

Abamectin is an insecticide, miticide and nematicide that has been extensively used in agriculture for many years. The excessive use of abamectin inevitably pollutes water and soil and might even cause adverse effects on aquatic biota. However, it is currently unclear how abamectin exposure causes neurotoxicity in aquatic organisms.

Tetrachlorantraniliprole (TCTP) is a novel bisamide insecticide and widely used to protect against lepidopteran insect species. However, the application of TCTP in rice fields often leads to water pollution, posing threats to aquatic organisms and potentially to human health. Few studies have assessed the toxic effects of TCTP on aquatic animals.

Three-phase partitioning (TPP) is promising for isolating bioactive polysaccharides, but t-butanol's environmental impact limits its application. Deep eutectic solvents can serve as a green and recyclable alternative to t-butanol. This study introduces an ultrasonic-assisted DES three-phase partitioning (UA-TPP-DES) system to extract and purify American ginseng polysaccharides (AGPs).

Despite tremendous efforts to understand interstitial diffusion in bulk alloys, a clear understanding of the principal elemental effect on surface interstitial diffusion is still lacking. In this study, a first-principles approach is employed to study oxygen interstitial diffusion in FeCrNi medium entropy alloy (MEA) based on principal element content at various subsurface sites. Oxygen adsorption energy on surfaces, solution energy at interstitial sites, and activation energy for oxygen permeation are calculated.

Liposomes have demonstrated great potential for drug delivery and diabetes treatment. However, hydrolysis by enzymes and emulsification by endogenous bile salts make liposomes unstable in the gastrointestinal tract. In this study, sodium tauroursodeoxycholate (TUDCNa)-based multifunctional bilosomes were designed to address the deficiencies of conventional liposomes.

Interferon-inducible double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR) is one of the key antiviral arms in the innate immune system. The activated PKR performs its antiviral function by inhibiting protein translation and inducing apoptosis. In our previous study, we identified grass carp TARBP2 as an inhibitor of PKR activity, thereby suppressing cell apoptosis.

Monkeypox virus (MPXV) is a cross-kingdom pathogen infecting both humans and wildlife, which poses a significant health risk to the public. Although MPXV attracts broad attention, there is a lack of adequate studies to elucidate pathogenic mechanisms associated with viral infections. In this study, a high-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) approach was used to explore the transcriptional and metabolic responses of MPXV A23 protein to HEK293T cells.

Background: Elevated PPP4C expression has been associated with poor prognostic implications for patients suffering from lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). The extent to which PPP4C affects immune cell infiltration in LUAD, as well as the importance of associated genes in clinical scenarios, still requires thorough investigation.

Methods: In our investigation, we leveraged both single-cell and comprehensive RNA sequencing data, sourced from LUAD patients, in our analysis.

Background: Monkeypox or mpox virus (mpox) is a double-stranded DNA virus that poses a significant threat to global public health security. The F3 protein, encoded by mpox, is an apoenzyme believed to possess a double-stranded RNA-binding domain (dsRBD). However, limited research has been conducted on its function.

The conjugation of chitopentaose (CHP) on β-lactoglobulin (βLg) via Maillard reaction was used to desensitize βLg. The stable βLg-CHP conjugate (βC-4) was formed at 4 h incubation, which contains 5 CHP attached molecules and a conjugated degree of 42 %. The conjugation promoted the thermal stability and emulsifying properties of βLg, and inhibited the immunoglobulin E (IgE) combining capacity by decreasing the content of β-sheet in βLg.

Article Synopsis
  • The RADIALIS-like (RL) proteins are a group of MYB-related transcription factors that play roles in metabolism, development, and stress responses, but previous research on their genes has been limited.
  • In this study, eight RL genes were identified based on their specific conserved domain, revealing insights into their structure and evolutionary classification.
  • Expression analysis across different tissues showed variable levels, particularly high expression in response to abscisic acid, while functional assays indicated that CsaRL1a lacks transcriptional activity despite being part of a complex protein interaction network.

Objective To express the monkeypox virus (MPXV) A23R protein in Escherichia coli and purify by Ni-NTA affinity column, and to prepare mouse antiserum against MPXV A23R. Methods The recombinant plasmid pET-28a-MPXV-A23R was constructed and transformed into Escherichia coli BL21 to induce the expression of A23R protein. After optimizing the conditions of expression, A23R protein was highly expressed.

High Fisher ratio oligopeptides (HFOPs) with molecular weight range from 100 to 800 Da derived from whey protein isolate (WPI) were used to prevent the allergic response induced by β-lactoglobulin (βLg) in vivo due to their anti-inflammatory activities to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) treated RAW 264.7 cells and anti-allergicproperties to anti-DNP mouse IgE sensitized RBL-2H3 cells in vitro. The results showed theoverexpressed immunoglobulin E (IgE), unbalanced Th1-/Th2-type immune cytokines and inflammatory factors in βLg-allergic mice were significantly attenuated by oral administration of HFOPs, resulting in the prevention of inflammatory lesions in spleen and colonic histopathology.

Bear bile powder (BBP) is one of the most famous traditional Chinese medicines derived from animals. It has a long history of medicinal use and is widely used in the treatment of hepatobiliary and ophthalmic diseases. Due to its similar morphological characterizations and chemical composition compared with other bile powders, it is difficult to accurately identify its authenticity.
