RNA structures that are functionally important are defined as -acting RNA elements because their functions cannot be compensated for in trans. The -acting RNA elements in the 3' UTR of coronaviruses are important for replication; however, the mechanism linking the -acting RNA elements to their replication function remains to be established. In the present study, a comparison of the biological processes of the interactome and the replication efficiency between the 3' UTR -acting RNA elements in coronaviruses, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, suggests that (i) the biological processes, including translation, protein folding and protein stabilization, derived from the analysis of the -acting RNA element interactome and (ii) the architecture of the -acting RNA elements and their interactomes are highly correlated with coronavirus replication.

This work pioneered an innovative visible light-powered, self-cascading peroxide antimicrobial packaging system (RPFe-CS), featuring a photodynamic enhancement effect achieved through the demand-oriented design of riboflavin sodium phosphate and Fe coordination complexes (RPFe) fillers with photodynamic and peroxidase activities, and the ingenious selection of slightly acidic chitosan (CS) film matrix. In this system, the photo-responsive properties of RPFe particles not only generate the •O, •OH, and O required for photodynamic sterilization, but also the produced HO serves as a necessary substrate for peroxidase to exert its bactericidal effect, endowing the packaging system with a "self-production and self-marketing" cascade process. SMARCA2 is an attractive synthetic lethal target in human cancers with mutated, inactivated SMARCA4. We report herein the discovery of highly potent and selective SMARCA2 PROTAC degraders, as exemplified by SMD-3236, which was designed using a new, high-affinity SMARCA ligand and a potent VHL-1 ligand. SMD-3236 achieves DC < 1 nM and > 95% against SMARCA2 and >2000-fold degradation selectivity over SMARCA4.

Integrating specific immune recognition, a desirable extinction coefficient, and conspicuous photothermal conversion ability into a single-immune probe to enhance the analysis performance represents an appealing yet significantly challenging task. Herein, by delicately manipulating the geometry of plasmonic nanoparticles from spherical to spiky, precise engineering approach-based spiky Au nanocubes (S-AuNCs) are employed to address this challenge, which fully exploits the plasmon resonance absorption-induced photothermal effect.
