Article Synopsis
  • SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) are associated with a slightly lower risk of new-onset acute coronary syndrome (ACS), but the difference is not statistically significant.
  • The study analyzed data from over 56,000 SGLT2i users and 112,000 nonusers over 3.7 years, finding 670 ACS cases in users and 1,408 in nonusers.
  • An increased risk of ACS was noted in older patients over 70 years and in males, indicating that while SGLT2is may reduce risk slightly, caution should be taken in these demographics.
