Paris rugosa, a plant from Yunnan province in China, has not been studied for its chemical constituents until now, leading to the isolation of nine compounds, including a new one called pariposide G.
The researchers used techniques like column chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC to identify these compounds, which include both new and known substances.
Of the isolated compounds, ophiopogonin C' showed notable antibacterial and antifungal effects, particularly against Candida albicans, including strains resistant to fluconazole.
