Atherosclerosis (AS) is an important causative agent of cardiovascular diseases, and the occurrence and development of AS is accompanied by oxidative stress, so antioxidant therapy has become one of the strategies for the treatment of AS. This study aimed to design and construct an apolipoprotein ApoA1-modified inorganic-organic composite nanosystem for AS therapy, in which ApoA1 was modified onto carboxylated CeO/MnO by covalent bonding, resulting in an inorganic-organic nanocomplex with a structure similar to that of high-density lipoprotein. The nanocomplex could effectively deliver the antioxidant nanoparticles to the AS plaque through the specific recognition between ApoA1 and the macrophage at the AS lesion site.

However, with the accumulation of iron in tumor cells, the antioxidant system is activated by reducing glutathione (GSH) with glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), which critically limits the ferroptosis therapeutic effect. Herein, an iron and GPX4 silencing siRNA (siGPX4) co-encapsulated ferritin nanocage (HFn@Fe/siGPX4) was developed to enhance ferroptosis by disruption of redox homeostasis and inhibition of antioxidant enzyme synergistically.

However, the role of wound commensal microbiome in regulating scaffold performance and the healing process remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the influence of both natural and synthetic scaffolds on the wound commensal microbiome and wound repair in three distinct models including diabetic wounds, burn injuries, and germ-free (GF) wounds.

The global, randomized, phase 3 ENHANCE-2 trial evaluated the anti-CD47 monoclonal antibody magrolimab plus azacitidine (Magro/Aza) for previously untreated TP53-mutated AML. Patients determined inappropriate for intensive therapy were randomized to receive Magro/Aza or venetoclax plus azacitidine (Ven/Aza); those appropriate for intensive therapy were randomized to receive Magro/Aza or 7+3 induction chemotherapy.

Selectable marker genes are essential for screening transformed cells, but they are undesirable in the final product due to the risks of horizontal gene transfer and extensive safety assessment requirements. Generating marker- and backbone-free lines can enhance the public acceptance of transgenic crops.

However, the mechanisms underlying severe illnesses in individuals with obesity are poorly understood. Here, we used gene-edited leptin knock out ( ) obese hamsters to establish a severe infection model.

Importance: Cigarette smoking is a strong risk factor for mortality in patients diagnosed with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, little evidence supports which smoking metric best models the association between smoking and survival in HNSCC.
Objective: To determine which smoking metric best models a linear association between smoking exposure and overall survival (OS) in patients with HNSCC.
As natural agonists of the stimulator of interferon genes (STING), cyclic dinucleotides (CDNs) have been identified as promising immunotherapies that trigger a potent immune response against tumors. However, the low stability, rapid clearance, inadequate cellular uptake, and inefficient cytosol localization heavily hinder the therapeutic efficacy of the hydrophilic and negatively charged 2', 3'-cyclic-GMP-AMP (cGAMP). How to efficiently deliver cGAMP into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to activate STING for immune priming remains challenging.

It is closely related to oxidative stress and immune inflammation. This bioinformatic study was conducted to identify key oxidative stress-related genes and key immune cell infiltration involved in the formation, progression, and stabilization of plaques and investigate the relationship between them.

Context: Progestins have recently been used as an alternative for gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues to prevent premature luteinizing hormone surge due to the application of vitrification technology. However, the long-term efficacy and safety of a progestin-primed ovarian stimulation (PPOS) regimen, including oocyte competence, cumulative live birth rate (LBR), and offspring outcomes, remain to be investigated.
Objective: To compare cumulative LBR of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) cycles between a PPOS regimen and GnRH analogues.
The purpose of this study was to comprehensively analyze the prediction role of NADPH oxidase (NOX)-related polymorphisms (NCF4: rs1883112, CYBA: rs4673, RAC2: rs13058338) and immunohistochemical indices on survival in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).The impact of NOX polymorphisms were evaluated in 335 DLBCL patients treated with R (rituximab)-CHOP (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) from Harbin Medical University Cancer Hospital. We also collected information on their immunohistochemical expression and clinical outcomes.

The emergence of severe headache should be promptly recognized as a potential indicator of large vessel stenosis. Here, we describe a male patient who initially presented with severe headache accompanied by transient left limb weakness, which subsequently progressed to persistent weakness.

Objective: To offer a potential approach for the early detection of both AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
Methods: Eye movement data from 66 patients were divided into three groups, including healthy control group (HC), MCI group, and AD group.
In recent years, considerable concerns have been raised regarding environmental pollution caused by water-soluble polymers (WSPs). Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), used in the textile industry and in the manufacture of medical consumables, is one type of WSPs. After use, PVA is discharged and enters aquatic ecosystems, but most of it cannot be completely biodegraded in the environment.

Methods: This prospective, multicenter, observational study enrolled patients with malignancies who received any generic nab-paclitaxel-based regimens in China. The primary endpoint was safety, and secondary endpoint was objective response rate (ORR).
Serious recombination of photogenerated carriers is the bottleneck problem of achieving high-performance photocatalytic reaction. A high efficient Cu-doped ZnMoO/ZnInS (CZMOZIS) heterojunction was synthesized by hydrothermal method. The CZMOZIS heterostructure achieved hydrogen production of 11637.

Summary Answer: Serum 25(OH)D levels were nonlinearly correlated with the incidence of EPs in infertile women.
What Is Known Already: EPs are a common condition that may affect the receptivity of the endometrium in women of reproductive age. Vitamin D regulates cell proliferation and differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, anti-inflammation, and immunomodulation, in addition to its well-known functions in balancing calcium and phosphorus.
Aims: Nutrition and inflammation status play a vital role in the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF). This study aimed to investigate the association between the advanced lung cancer inflammation index (ALI), a novel composite indicator of inflammation and nutrition, and short-term mortality among critically ill patients with HF.
Methods: This retrospective study included 548 critically ill patients with HF from the MIMIC-IV database.
Background: Vericiguat has demonstrated efficacy in improving the prognosis of patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) following recent clinical deterioration. However, its real-world impact on reducing N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels and improving ventricular remodeling remains uncertain in stable HFrEF patients receiving guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) over the short term.
Methods: This multicenter, observational cohort study included 200 HFrEF patients.

Purpose: This study determined the influence of sarcopenia and other laboratory results on survival in patients with HCC treated with TACE plus sorafenib.
