The current research examined the influence of subjective loss on financial risk-taking tendency and negative emotional experience through inducing the experience of subjective loss in auction scenarios. In Study 1, we found that the subjective loss experience (compared to no-loss experience) in an auction scenario induced greater financial risk propensity, especially in gambling, greater negative emotion, and greater decision regret. In addition, we found that the subjective loss experience induced stronger negative emotion but less risk propensity in investment than the actual loss experience did, but these two types of loss did not yield a difference in risk propensity in gambling in Study 2.

Zeolite encapsulated metal clusters have shown high catalytic activity and superior stability due to confinement effects, the synergy between acidic and metal active sites, and strong metal-zeolite interactions. In the present work, density functional theory calculations were employed to study the stability of encapsulated Pt ( = 1-6) clusters in the zeolitic frameworks including Silicalite-1 and H-MFI. It has been found that the metal-zeolite interaction becomes stronger with the increasing Pt cluster size for both zeolitic frameworks.

Aldol condensations of carbonyl compounds for C-C bond formation are a very important class of reactions in organic synthesis and upgrading of biomass-derived feedstocks. However, the atomic level understanding of reaction mechanisms and structure-activity correlation on widely used transition metal oxide catalysts are limited due to the high degree of structural heterogeneity of catalysts such as commercial TiO powders. Birefringence, an important optical performance parameter for optoelectronic functional materials, is mainly influenced by the types of anion groups and their spatial arrangement. Inspired by the relationship between the structure and properties of chalcogenides, combined with the dimensional transformation, we successfully synthesized a sulfide compound (CsZnSnS) with a two-dimensional layered structure and a large birefringence. The experimental results showed that, compared with RbZnSnS, CsZnSnS achieved the structural transition from a zero-dimensional arrangement to a two-dimensional lamellar arrangement and achieved a breakthrough of birefringence from 0 to 0.
