Background: Evidence has firmly established the association between superior cardiovascular health (CVH) and reduced susceptibility to cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs). In reality, CVH experiences dynamic fluctuations throughout individuals' lifespans. However, the association between changes in CVH and the impact on CMDs among individuals with different genetic risks remains unclear.

Individuals with vascular risk factors (VRF), cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD), and stroke are all at risk of developing VCI. To address the growing challenges posed by VCI, the "Vascular, Imaging and Cognition Association of China" (VICA) was established.

Methods: We included 634 participants from the Taizhou Imaging Study who had complete gait and laboratory data.
Uranium is the most important fuel for nuclear power operations, and the safe supply of its resources is the key to the development of nuclear power in China. Because of the complex seawater environment and extremely low uranium concentration, extracting uranium from natural seawater poses a significant challenge. In this study, a polyamidoxime-phosphorylated cellulose nanofibril composite aerogel was prepared as an adsorbent for uranium extraction from seawater.

Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) encompasses a wide spectrum of cognitive disorders, ranging from mild cognitive impairment to vascular dementia. Its diagnosis relies on thorough clinical evaluations and neuroimaging. VCI predominately arises from vascular risk factors (VRFs) and cerebrovascular disease, either independently or in conjunction with neurodegeneration.

Background: Both genetic and lifestyle factors contribute to myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke, including ischaemic stroke (IS) and intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH). We explored how and the extent to which a healthy lifestyle, by considering a comprehensive list, could counteract the genetic risk of those diseases, respectively.
Methods: 315 044 participants free of stroke and MI at baseline were identified from the UK Biobank.
White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) refer to a group of diseases with numerous etiologies while oligodendrocytes remain the centerpiece in the pathogenesis of WMHs. Ring Finger Protein 216 (RNF216) encodes a ubiquitin ligase, and its mutation begets WMHs, ataxia, and cognitive decline in patients. Yet no study has revealed the function of RNF216 in oligodendroglia and WHIs before.

Dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase-1 (DDAH-1) is the critical enzyme responsible for the degradation of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) which inhibits nitric oxide (NO) synthase and has been implicated in neurodegeneration. Mitochondrial dysfunction, particularly in the mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum membrane (MAM), plays a critical role in this process, although the specific molecular target has not yet been determined.

Although cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) plays a significant role in gait impairment, the specific gait pattern associated with a high burden of CSVD remains to be explored.
Methods: We analyzed the gait pattern related to high CSVD burden from 720 participants (aged 55-65 years, 42.
Antibiotic residues have become a worldwide public safety issue. It is vital to detect multiple antibiotics simultaneously using sensors. A new and efficient method is proposed for the combined detection of two antibiotics (enrofloxacin (Enro) and ciprofloxacin (Cip)) in milk using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors.

Metabolic perturbations might play roles in the linkage of cardiovascular diseases and dementia. Circulating metabolites profiling by metabolomics may improve understanding of the potential mechanism by which cardiovascular risk factors contribute to cognitive decline.

A total of 595 participants from the Taizhou Imaging Study, who underwent both gait and bone mineral density measurements, were included in this cross-sectional analysis. We used a wearable gait tracking device to collect quantitative gait parameters and then summarized them into independent gait domains with factor analysis.

The objectives were to investigate the associations between carotid intima-media thickness and specific gait performances and explore the potential role of brain structure in mediating these associations.

Liquid metal (LM) based conductive materials have received enormous amounts of attention. However, the processing approach of LM/polymer composites represents great challenges due to the high surface tension and cohesive energy of LMs.

We established a human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) line, FDHSi003-A, derived from PBMC of a patient baring a mutation of RNF216 c.1948G > T, who shows typical symptoms of GDHS.

Methods: A total of 1073 patients were offered Aβ-PET using F-florbetapir. The neurologists determined a suspected etiology (Alzheimer's disease [AD] or non-AD) with a percentage estimate of their confidence and medication prescription both before and after receiving the Aβ-PET results.
The potential adverse effects of the plant-based dietary pattern on bone health have received widespread attention. However, the biological mechanisms underlying the adverse effects of plant-based diets on bone health remain incompletely understood. The objective of this study was to identify potential biomarkers between plant-based diets and bone loss utilizing metabolomic techniques in the Taizhou Imaging Study (TIS) (N = 788).

This study aimed to explore central distributive characteristics of mesenchymal stem cell-derived small extracellular vesicles (MSC-sEVs) and underlying pathways. Here, we observed that intranasal MSC-sEVs were rapidly distributed to various brain regions, especially in the subcortex distant from the olfactory bulb, and were absorbed by multiple cells residing in these regions.

Information on AD prediction at the individual patient level will be useful in AD prevention. In this study, we aim to develop risk models for predicting AD onset at individual level using optimal set of predictors from multiple features.
