Sustained Increases in the Quality of Imaging Histories Provided by Ordering Providers Resulting From Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Systems Design.

The purpose of this quality improvement project was to create sustained improvement in the frequency of more complete imaging histories provided with imaging examinations submitted directly by ordering providers. A secondary purpose was increasing the number of characters submitted by ordering providers with imaging examinations. A multidisciplinary team defined the components of a complete imaging history, a process that underwent several improvement cycles.

Angioplasty vs stent in the treatment of transplant renal artery stenosis.

Objective: To compare outcomes between percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stent placement in the treatment of transplant renal artery stenosis (TRAS).

Methods: We retrospectively studied patients who underwent angiography for TRAS between 1/1/2008 and 9/20/2016 at 1 center. We compared the rates of restenosis in patients who were treated with angioplasty alone vs those who were treated with stenting.

Simple gaze analysis and special design of a virtual Morris water maze provides a new method for differentiating egocentric and allocentric navigational strategy choice.

We present a novel method of combining eye tracking with specially designed virtual environments to provide objective evidence of navigational strategy selection. A simple, inexpensive video camera with an easily built infrared LED array is used to capture eye movements at 60Hz. Simple algorithms analyze gaze position at the start of each virtual maze trial to identify stimuli used for navigational orientation.

Pretransplantation soluble adhesion molecule expression predicts outcome after living donor renal transplantation.

Hypothesis: Occult pretransplantation systemic inflammation will identify patients at risk for poor outcomes after renal transplantation.

Design: Retrospective cohort study. Adhesion molecule levels were measured in pretransplantation serum samples from 86 recipients.

Higher surgical wound complication rates with sirolimus immunosuppression after kidney transplantation: a matched-pair pilot study.

Sirolimus, a potent new immunosuppressant, has been anecdotally associated with surgical wound complications. We studied postoperative surgical wound complications in 15 kidney recipients receiving sirolimus, prednisone, and tacrolimus or cyclosporine (study group) compared with 15 recipients receiving tacrolimus, prednisone, and mycophenolate mofetil who were pair-matched for surgical wound complication risk factors. Surgical wound complications were defined as any complication related to the surgical transplant wound requiring reintervention.
