With heightened awareness of mitral valve disease and improvement in surgical techniques, the use of mitral valve bioprostheses has increased. There is a large aging population with prior surgical valvular interventions. Limited durability of the prosthesis due to valvular degeneration over time may necessitate the need for repair or replacement of the prior prosthesis in the future.

Global quantification of protein abundances in single cells could provide direct information on cellular phenotypes and complement transcriptomics measurements. However, single-cell proteomics is still immature and confronts many technical challenges. Herein we describe a nested nanoPOTS (N2) chip to improve protein recovery, operation robustness, and processing throughput for isobaric-labeling-based scProteomics workflow.

Pulse wave analysis (PWA) provides arterial stiffness (AS) and central hemodynamic (CH) parameters. We studied the effect of DR on AS and CH parameters in type 2 diabetics (T2D).

Purpose: We aim to compile and analyze brain MRI findings in patients with COVID-19 disease and PRES.
Methods: PubMed and Embase were searched on April 5th, 2021 using the terms "COVID-19", "PRES", "SARS-CoV-2" for peer-reviewed publications describing brain MRI findings in patients 21 years of age or older with evidence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and PRES.

Background: Autophagy, a highly conserved homeostatic mechanism, is essential for cell survival. The decline of autophagy function has been implicated in various diseases as well as aging. Although mitochondria play a key role in the autophagy process, whether mitochondrial-derived peptides are involved in this process has not been explored.

Acute exacerbations of COPD (AECOPD) are a frequent complication following BLVR with EBV. However, there is no consensus on the prevention of AECOPD.

We aim to present our experience of using intra-tumoral alcohol injection (ITAI) to help achieve airway patency in malignant airway obstruction.
Methods: A retrospective study of adult patients presenting with malignant airway obstruction who underwent bronchoscopy with ITAI at a university center between 2015 and 2020 was conducted.
Purpose: To compare 12-month treatment outcomes of eyes receiving aflibercept or ranibizumab for macular oedema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) in routine clinical practice.
Methods: 296 treatment-naïve eyes receiving either aflibercept (171 eyes, 2 mg) or ranibizumab (125 eyes, 0.5 mg) for macular oedema secondary to CRVO were recruited retrospectively from centres using the prospectively designed FRB! registry.
Some commonly prescribed drugs have ocular adverse effects. Many parts of the eye can be affected by oral drugs. Some ocular adverse effects may be reversed with medical or surgical intervention whereas other drugs may cause irreversible loss of vision The risk of visual loss can be reduced by a number of approaches, including monitoring for ocular toxicity, reducing the drug dose, or stopping the drug and looking for an alternative.

As a result, the approval of Bedaquiline and Delamanid for the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis was accelerated.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of adults 65 years and older with Parkinson disease between November 1, 2015, and December 31, 2018, using an administrative dataset on residents of Medicare-certified long-term care facilities and linked Medicare claims data. Propensity score-based inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) was used to balance pimavanserin users and nonusers on 24 baseline characteristics.
Objective: To estimate the prevalence of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) in commercially insured US patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and examine the effect of GDMT on all-cause mortality. GDMT for HFrEF includes pharmacologic therapies such as β-blockers (BB), angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-I), angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB), angiotensin receptor-neprilysin (ARNI), mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA), and sodium-glucose cotransporter inhibitors to reduce morbidity and mortality.
Methods: Patients in the Optum Integrated File from 2007 to 2019Q3, ≥18 years, with history of HFrEF, were identified.
Background: The BEVORDEX trial compared outcomes of eyes with diabetic macular oedema (DMO) randomised to receive either intravitreal dexamethasone (DEX-) implant or bevacizumab over 2 years. We assessed long-term efficacy and safety outcomes 5 years from enrolment.
Methods: Patients received standard clinical care after they finished the study.
Bamboos due to high soil water conservation potential are gaining increased attention in plantation programs across the globe. Large-scale plantation of fast-growing bamboo, however, can have important hydrological consequences. The study aims to quantify the eco-hydrological parameters, viz.

Patients with both a beta blocker and either an ACE inhibitor (ACE-I), angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) or angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor were assigned to the GDMT cohort. All others were not on GDMT.

This review addresses the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative considerations in managing cataract in patients with age-related macular degeneration. Surgery for visually significant cataracts in patients with AMD can substantially improve the quality of life and reduce the risk of falls.
