Disease aggravation following surgery in a rare patient suspected to Fibrodysplasia (Myositis) ossificans progressiva: a case report.

Background: Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) as a rare and heritable disorder with the infrequent genetic transmission of the condition is a catastrophic disorder of heterotopic ossification (HO) and a cause of extraskeletal bone formation in humans. Given the lack of effective treatment for this disease, the important point is to avoid aggravating factors such as bone biopsy, surgery, and intramuscular injection.

Case Presentation: In this report, we present a 52-year-old female patient, Kurdish ethnic, suspected to FOP who had a surgical intervention on the second toe of the right foot, which subsequently, it caused further deterioration of the disease in the person including necrosis and amputation of the distal phalanx of the second toe.

Clinical and radiological results of using proximal femoral locking compression plate and proximal femoral nail antirotation for subtrochanteric fractures.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of treatment of subtrochanteric femoral fracture in the use of proximal femoral locking compression plate (PFLCP) and proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA). This retrospective study was performed on patients who referred to Firoozgar Hospital in 2017 with subtrochanteric fracture. During follow-up, control radiographs were obtained from patients and the Harris Hip Score questionnaire was completed.

Early Diagnosis of Giant Solitary Synovial Chondromatosis of the Hip Using Ultrasound-guided Synovial Biopsy: A Case Report.

The diagnosis of synovial chondromatosis (SCM) is usually delayed, as the arthroscopic-guided synovial biopsy is postponed owing to its invasive nature. We report the timely diagnosis of a giant solitary synovial chondromatosis of the hip in a 32-year-old woman using ultrasound-guided synovial biopsy. This technique revealed to be safe and successful in the diagnosis of SCM, when the imaging studies were obscure.

The association between bladder-emptying methods and health-related quality of life among Iranian individuals with spinal cord injury.

Objectives: In this study, we compared the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) using different bladder emptying methods including normal spontaneous micturition (NSM), micturition with assisted maneuvers (MAM), aseptic intermittent catheterization by patient (IC-P), aseptic IC by an attendant/caregiver (IC-A) and indwelling catheterization.

Design: Cross-sectional.

Setting: Tertiary rehabilitation center.
