Classical and Bayesian Inference of Conditional Stress-Strength Model under Kumaraswamy Distribution.

Stress-strength models have been frequently studied in recent years. An applicable extension of these models is conditional stress-strength models. The maximum likelihood estimator of conditional stress-strength models, asymptotic distribution of this estimator, and its confidence intervals are obtained for Kumaraswamy distribution.

Outcome of Comparison between Partial Thickness Skin Graft Harvesting from Scalp and Lower Limb for Scalp Defect: A Clinical Trial Study.

Background: Partial-thickness skin graft is the cornerstone for scalp defect repair. Given the potential side effects following harvesting from these sites, this study aimed to compare the outcomes of graft harvesting from scalp and lower limb.

Methods: This clinical trial was conducted among a sample number of 40 partial thickness graft candidates (20 case and 20 control group) with scalp defect presenting to Plastic Surgery Clinic at Besat Hospital, Hamadan, Iran during 2018-2019.

Introduction: Mesenteric cysts are rare benign intra-abdominal vesicles with various clinical presentations. They almost located in the mesentery of the small intestine. The selective therapeutic method is complete surgical excision, however more than half need resection and bowel anastomosis.

Large Laryngeal Lipoma with Extra Laryngeal Component Mimics Mixed Form Laryngocele: A Case Report.

Introduction: Lipomas are the most common benign neoplasms, occurring in any part of the body where fat is present. Their occurrence in the head and neck is not common. Here, we report a large laryngeal lipoma with extra laryngeal component, mimicking mixed form of laryngocele.

Conservative Management of Postpartum HELLP Syndrome and Intraparenchymal Liver Hematoma; A Case Report.

The HELLP syndrome is an important variant of pre-eclampsia which is known by triad of hemolysis (H), elevated liver enzymes (EL) and low platelet count (LP). Intraparenchymal liver hematoma is a rare and important complication of HELLP syndrome which is a life threatening condition. The incidence of intraparenchymal hematoma of the liver has been reported to vary from 1 in each 40,000 to 250,000 deliveries worldwide.

The relationship between dialysis adequacy and serum uric acid in dialysis patients; a cross-sectional multi-center study in Iranian hemodialysis centers.

Uric acid is one of the most significant uremic toxins accumulating in chronic renal failure patients treated with standard dialysis. Its clearance has not any exact relation with urea and creatinine clearance. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between adequacy of dialysis and serum level of uric acid in dialysis patients of some dialysis centers in Iran.

Depression and Associated Factors in Patients with Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators.

Psychological problems such as depression constitute a dilemma that patients with the implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) usually encounter and may impact their quality of life. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of depression among adults with the ICD and the relationship between depression and associated factors. Totally, 115 individuals with the ICD participated in this cross-sectional study in Tehran, Iran, and depression and other related risk factors were evaluated in them.

Success Rate and Complications of Comminuted Intra-Articular Distal Radius Fracture Treatment via Closed Reduction and Use of a Mini-External Fixator.

Background: Intra-articular fracture of the distal radius is extremely common; however, the management of this fracture is controversial.

Objectives: With regard to the importance of intra-articular fracture of the distal radius and the best treatment method for the fracture, we sought to assess the success rate following the treatment of comminuted intra-articular fractures of the distal radius via closed reduction and use of a mini-external fixator.

Patients And Methods: This longitudinal retrospective study was undertaken at our department of orthopedics via assessment of radiographs and patient files of those referred from 2006 to 2013.

Iranian Nephrology and Urology Research Output in the Past Two Decades: A Bibliographic Analysis of Medline Database.

Context: We performed a bibliometric search to evaluate the number of papers published in the field of nephrology and urology by Iranian researchers in the past two decades.

Evidence Acquisition: We did an online search in abstract/title part of articles with 129 keywords such as kidney, renal, hemodialysis, transplant, nephrology, glomerulonephritis, ureteral, nephrolithiasis, and etc. Endnote software version 7 was used to search articles published in PubMed database from November 1993 to November 2013.

Flank pain after minor trauma as the initial manifestation of malignant pheochromocytoma; a case report.

Pheochromocytoma is a tumor which originates from chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla or the sympathetic ganglia. This tumor secrets a high amount of catecholamine and metabolites, causing hypertension crisis with headache, tachycardia, sweating and flushing (classic triad of pheochromocytoma). However, in some cases the disease may cause atypical symptoms or may be asymptomatic.

Extramedullary hematopoiesis presenting as a right adrenal mass in a patient with Beta thalassemia.

Introduction: Extramedullary hematopoiesis in the kidney and adrenal are rarely reported in medical literature and are usually found as incidentaloma. It usually occurs in patients with hematologic disorder such as thalassemia.

Case Presentation: The patient was a 23-year-old Iranian man with beta thalassemia who was admitted with a suprarenal mass.

Effects of single course and multicourse betamethasone prior to birth in the prognosis of the preterm neonates: A randomized, double-blind placebo-control clinical trial study.

Background: Preterm labor is the most common complication of the pregnancy in the second trimester and has been suggested as the cause of two-thirds of neonatal mortality. Antenatal corticosteroid is used for fetal lung maturity in preterm labor and makes a significant reduction in the incidence of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). The aim of this study was to compare the prenatal administration of single and multiple courses of betamethasone and neonatal outcomes, effectiveness and safety of its weekly administration.

The impact of cytomegalovirus infection on new-onset diabetes mellitus after kidney transplantation: a review on current findings.

Context: New onset diabetes mellitus after transplantation (NODAT) increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, rate of infections, graft rejection and graft loss as well as decreases patient and graft survival rates. There is a controversy surrounding the impact of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in the development of NODAT. This meta-analysis aims to identify the role of CMV infection leading to the development of NODAT in kidney recipient patients.

Sirolimus-induced bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia in a kidney transplant recipient; a case report and review of literature.

Background: Sirolimus is immunosuppressive drug used to prevent rejection in kidney transplantation. Pulmonary problems are one of the serious complications which may be seen after administration of this drug and it is believed that it could be life threatening.

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type IIa associated with Cushing's syndrome.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type IIa (MEN IIa) is an autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by pheochromocytoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma and hyperparathyroidism. Pheochromocytoma occurs in approximately 50% of patients with MEN IIa. This tumor has the capacity to produce ACTH ectopically and manifests as the Cushing syndrome, although it is very rare.

Erectile dysfunction in methadone maintenance patients: a cross sectional study in northern iran.

Objective: Erectile dysfunction affects quality of life and is a common dysfunction in drug abusers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of erectile dysfunction in drug abusers on methadone maintenance therapy to reduce this drug side effect in the future studies.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with two hundred addicted individuals on methadone maintenance therapy.

Juxta cortical tibia metastatic deposition in gastric cancer: a case report.

We report a 41 years old man with rapidly growing and tender lump on the anteromedial surface of tibia. The patient had the history of gastrectomy and gastrojejunostomy due to gastric carcinoma. On admission, the Simple X-ray of lower extremity disclosed a slight thinning of the anterior cortex of tibia without cortical destruction.

A rapid and reliable genotyping method for hepatitis B virus genotypes (A-H) using type-specific primers.

Eight genotypes of HBV (A-H) are recognized. A simple, rapid, and more specific genotyping system for HBV involving PCR using type-specific primers is described. The complete genomes of 234 human HBV strains for all the genotypes submitted to GenBank were aligned.
