Issues Ment Health Nurs
December 2024
The goal of this study was to examine the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, including public health measures (mitigation and containment efforts), on new onset mental health diagnoses by age group. This study was a longitudinal retrospective cohort study. Data on new mental health diagnoses were extracted from the University of California Health System Electronic Health Records (EHR) that contained five academic health centers in California.

Baculoviruses have been extensively studied for their potential in microbial pest control, but the mechanisms behind their mode of action still need to be addressed. Here we report differential expression of a cellular miRNA, Sfr-miR-184, from Sf9 cells in response to Autographa californica multicapsid Nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) infection. Our results showed that Sfr-miR-184 is down-regulated in AcMNPV-infected cells but not with UV-inactivated virus.

These bacteria may also affect the mating behavior of their host with impacts on the fitness of host progeny. In this study, we investigated the impact of Wolbachia on a preference for mating with young or old males in the parasitoid wasp Habrobracon hebetor.

It is primarily known for the addition of methyl groups to cytosine in DNA. The whitefly Bemisia tabaci is a polyphagous pest insect and a vector that is responsible for transmitting numerous plant viruses, resulting in significant economic losses in agricultural crops globally.

Over the past decade, immunotherapy has been constructed in the enlargement of immune checkpoint inhibitors as a promising approach for NSCLC treatment. Evading the immune system using the PD-1/PD-L1 axis is an intelligent way for cancers, and T cells cannot respond fully and confront cancer.

Fetal bovine serum (FBS) is commonly used in animal cell culture, including the cell line. However, we aimed to reduce the amount of serum needed for cell culture by modifying the Stoker culture medium with supplements such as excretion factor and serum substitutes.

Likewise, many pathogens have evolved to evade/suppress host immunity and increase their survival within the host. In this study, we assessed the NF-κB (Imd and Toll) essential gene expression response of Helicoverpa armigera to an entomopathogenic Serratia marcescens and non-pathogenic Escherichia coli.

It is not unreasonable to assume that fear of contracting the virus during the COVID-19 pandemic, may have intensified fathers' fear of childbirth. This study aims to determine the mediating role of the expectant mothers' fear of childbirth in the relationship between expectant fathers' fear of COVID-19 and their fear of childbirth.

The implementation of these public health measures may have had unintended consequences related to mental health for persons in California. This study is a retrospective review of electronic health records of patients who sought care in the University of California Health System to examine changes in mental health status during the pandemic.

: This study aimed to determine the safety and immunogenicity of a combined intramuscular/intranasal recombinant spike protein COVID-19 vaccine (RCP). : We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase I trial. Three vaccine strengths were compared with an adjuvant-only preparation.

Stress may be a factor that influences PA behavior. Research investigating the impact of stress on PA has yielded inconsistent findings.

These compounds are capable of interfering with normal growth and development by mimicking the actions of hormones such as juvenile hormone (JH) or ecdysone. The effect of JH and its analogs on some aspects of insect immunity has been determined, yet their possible effects on antiviral immunity response has not been investigated yet.

The endocrine system modulates several physiological functions such as development and metamorphosis in insects. The normal growth and development of insects is interfered with insect growth regulators (IGRs), which act as mimics of insect hormones like juvenile hormone (JH) and ecdysone hormone. The effects of JH and its analogs on systemic immunity have been identified.

Recent approaches fuse Photoplethys-mograph (PPG) and electrocardiographic (ECG) signals using different machine and deep learning approaches to non-invasively estimate BP; however, they fail to reconstruct the complete signal, leading to less accurate models. In this paper, we propose a cycle generative adversarial network (CycleGAN) based approach to extract a BP signal known as ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) from a clean PPG signal.

The whitefly Bemisia tabaci is a polyphagous vector that transmits many plant viruses causing economic damage to crops worldwide. In this study, we characterized and analyzed the expression of the miRNA core genes Argonaute-1 (Ago1) and Dicer-1 (Dcr1) in B.
