Management of melanoma has changed significantly with the discovery of targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Our aim in the study is to determine which treatment alternatives, specifically dabrafenib plus trametinib and ICIs, are effective in adjuvant therapy and which treatment is effective as first-line metastatic therapy. This retrospective, multicenter study included 120 patients diagnosed with stage IIIB-IIID melanoma receiving both adjuvant and first-line metastatic treatment between 2007 and 2023.

Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) approved for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis, is widely used, though real-world data on its application in asthma management remain limited. This registry-based study evaluated the use of montelukast in adult asthma patients, examining demographic and disease characteristics, asthma control status, asthma phenotypes, presence of atopy, and treatment regimens. Among 2053 patients analyzed, 61.

Introduction: Thyrotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis (THPP) is a rare but severe complication of hyperthyroidism characterized by acute muscle weakness. This study reports the first case of THPP in an adolescent with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and Graves' disease, triggered by high-dose insulin, high carbohydrate intake, and strenuous exercise. It highlights the clinical presentation, management, and implications of THPP in this context.

Current guidelines recommend adding long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs) in patients with uncontrolled asthma, despite the use of moderate to high doses of inhaled steroid-long-acting beta agonists (ICS/LABA). This study aims to analyze the factors related to the prescription of add-on LAMA in clinical practice for asthma patients, shedding light on physicians' preferences. This study included adult asthma patients on add-on LAMA and ICS/LABA monitored for at least one year in a national registry comprising 2053 asthmatics.

BCR::ABL1-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) pose a substantial risk of thrombosis, leading to significant morbidity and mortality. Anticoagulant therapy, historically based on vitamin K antagonists (VKAs), has limitations in preventing recurrent thrombotic events and managing bleeding complications. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) offer a potential alternative with improved pharmacokinetics and compliance.

Cardiomyopathy, which is shortly defined as a disease of the myocardium, has a broad definition that includes many different diagnoses. Recent advances in cardiac imaging techniques, including basic and advanced echocardiography, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, and cardiac magnetic resonance, allow for a more accurate evaluation of volumes and thickness of cardiac chambers, systolic and diastolic function of the ventricules, and tissue structure. Multimodality imaging often provides the first clinical suspicion for specific etiologies, especially when the medical and family history is unclear, by identification of red flags of underlying systemic diseases.

Transitional care is essential to maintain the continuity of care in younger patients with rheumatic diseases. In this study, we aimed to assess the transition readiness of rheumatology patients who had already transferred from pediatric to adult care using a questionnaire. We included young adult rheumatology patients who had already transferred to adult rheumatology care.

Article Synopsis
  • * About 9.8% of the patients died during hospitalization, with older individuals and those with preexisting kidney issues showing higher mortality rates due to severe injuries and complications.
  • * Key factors influencing mortality included age, injury severity, shock, and certain elevated lab values, highlighting the need for better disaster preparedness and health care improvements for future events.

  • Millions are affected by natural disasters annually, leading to serious medical issues like crush syndrome, which often results in acute kidney injury tied to high mortality rates.
  • This study analyzed data from 1024 patients with crush syndrome after the February 2023 earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, focusing on their treatment and outcomes in Turkish hospitals.
  • The findings revealed high rates of acute kidney injury and hemodialysis treatment, with a 9.8% in-hospital mortality rate, highlighting the urgent need for improved emergency response training and protocols for managing kidney health in disaster scenarios.

Objective: Endometriosis is a disease in which stromal cells and endometrial glands extend outside of the uterine cavity. Nevertheless, treatment failure and recurrence cause difficulties in management. This study aimed to evaluate the receptor-level components of bilateral endometriomas in the recurrence state.

Background And Aim: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) incidence has recently increased in younger individuals. With time, given the nature of the disease and available therapies, as well as the existing paucity and inconsistency of advice, worries about fertility have surfaced. With all these clear unknowns, we designed this study to raise awareness among both physicians and CML patients about whether male and female patients of childbearing age were using contraception at the time of diagnosis, and if so, which methods they were using.

Article Synopsis
  • Rotator cuff tendonitis (RCT) is a widespread shoulder issue that leads to pain and limited movement, with no clear treatment guidelines available.
  • A study compared the effects of Kinesio taping (KT) and cold therapy (CT) on pain relief and functionality in individuals with RCT, involving 52 participants randomly assigned to either treatment group.
  • Results showed that KT significantly improved pain, range of motion, and grip strength more effectively than CT, suggesting that KT could be a better option when combined with exercise for short-term rehabilitation of RCT.

Artificial intelligence algorithms, with roots extending into the past but experiencing a resurgence and evolution in recent years due to their superiority over traditional methods and contributions to human capabilities, have begun to make their presence felt in the field of pediatric rheumatology. In the ever-evolving realm of pediatric rheumatology, there have been incremental advancements supported by artificial intelligence in understanding and stratifying diseases, developing biomarkers, refining visual analyses, and facilitating individualized treatment approaches. However, like in many other domains, these strides have yet to gain clinical applicability and validation, and ethical issues remain unresolved.

Background: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) holds potential as a biomarker for assessing the superovulation (SO) response in cattle. Nonetheless, there exists scant information regarding this aspect in the literature concerning dairy heifers. Given this gap, our objective is to explore the viability of AMH as an indicator for gauging the SO response specifically in Holstein heifers.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on distinguishing tuberculous lymphadenitis (TBLN) from non-tuberculous lymphadenitis (NTBLN) in adults in Turkiye, analyzing demographic, clinical, and laboratory data from patients with swollen lymph nodes.
  • - A total of 812 patients were studied, revealing that TBLN was the most common diagnosis (53.69%), with higher occurrence in females and those who had elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate and positive test results for tuberculosis (p < 0.05).
  • - The findings suggest that identifying specific variables can help clinicians improve their diagnosis and treatment strategies for adult lymphadenopathy.

Freemartinism is the most common congenital anomaly among sexual disorders in dairy cows. This syndrome typically occurs in different-sex twin pregnancies and causes vascular anastomoses to form with the placenta in the early stages of fetal development. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of Anti-müllerian hormone (AMH) levels in calves and heifers of different age groups for diagnostic factors and to investigate the potential consequences of different hormone levels in different age groups on some liver biochemical parameters.
