Introduction: The Naples prognostic score (NPS) is a novel indicator of nutritional and inflammatory statuses in cancer patients. Development of atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery (POAF) is a common complication that increases the incidence of adverse events. Numerous studies have investigated predictors of POAF.

Comparison of Embolization Using Coil Versus Coil and Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Copolymer in Pelvic venous Disorders.

Background: Endovascular treatments are frequently applied in pelvic venous disorders (PeVDs) with guidelines recommendations. There is no clear answer as to which of the embolization methods applied with endovascular treatments is superior. In this study, we aimed to compare the outcomes and symptom relief of patients with PeVDs treated using coils alone versus those treated with both coils and ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, as well as to evaluate the material usage and safety and efficacy of these treatments.

Endovascular treatments of atherosclerotic renovascular disease: a narrative review and literature search.

In recent years, endovascular treatments have become more common in patients with renal artery stenosis and aneurysm. Although the treatment algorithms are not universally accepted, endovascular therapy can be readily utilized for the appropriate indications in the context of surgical treatment for renovascular diseases. The most important factor to consider is that the correct indication is applied for such treatment.

The effect of postoperative hepatic fibrosis factors on morbidity in mitral valve replacement surgery: A single center ten years' experience.

Background: Previous studies have shown that hepatic fibrosis indices and rates can be used to predict cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Our aim with this study was to investigate the effect of aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase (AST/ALT) ratio and fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index calculated with ALT, AST, and platelet biomarkers, which are simple, fast, and relatively inexpensive and were used in previous studies to predict cardiovascular disease prognosis, on the prediction of postoperative morbidity and early mortality after mitral valve replacement (MVR) surgery.

Methods: By scanning the hospital electronic health record system, 116 patients who underwent isolated MVR or MVR + tricuspid valve intervention were identified from 178 patients who underwent MVR with the standard sternotomy procedure between 2011 and 2021.

Surgical treatment of constrictive pericarditis at a single center: 10 years of experience.

Background: Constrictive pericarditis (CP) is a pericardial disease characterized by the pericardium becoming calcified or fibrotic as a result of chronic inflammation, which impairs diastolic filling by compressing the cardiac chambers. Pericardiectomy is a promising surgical option for treating CP. In this study, we reviewed over 10 years of preoperative, perioperative, and short-term postoperative follow-ups of patients who underwent pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis at our clinic.

Methods: Subjects treated with DCB angioplasty alone (group A) and DA combined with DCB angioplasty (group B) were enrolled in the study. A retrospective chart review was performed between the 4 years.

Short-Term Results of Ivabradine versus Metoprolol: The Effects on Atrial Fibrillation in Patients Undergoing Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.

Introduction: Classic coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery involves diastolic cardiac arrest under cardiopulmonary bypass, while off-pump CABG (OPCABG) has become widespread in recent years.

Background: There is no study about the relationship between the complexity of coronary artery disease (SYNTAX SCORE; SS), and coronary artery calcium (CAC) score, accompanied with aortic calcium score (ACS) levels. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between the preoperative SS and CAC scores accompanying ACS in isolated CABG patients and their postoperative clinical results.

Methods: This study included 130 consecutive CABG patients.

Aim: In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of the single aortic cross-clamp technique (SCT) (aortic cross-clamp only) versus the multiple-clamp technique (MCT) (aortic cross-clamp + side-biting clamp) on postoperative stroke in octogenarians undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

Methods: A total of 171 patients aged 80 years and older who underwent isolated CABG were retrospectively analysed. The patients were divided into two groups according to the technique used during surgery: group 1 ( = 88) received the SCT, and group 2 ( = 83) received the MCT.

The effectiveness of vacuum-assisted closure therapy in patients with infected venous leg ulcers.

Aim: In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of vacuum-assisted closure therapy on venous stasis wound healing in patients with chronic venous leg ulcers.

Methods: Vacuum-assisted closure therapy was applied on a total of 14 venous leg ulcers. All patients had post-thrombotic syndrome.

Environmental awareness and guests' intention to visit green hotels: The mediation role of consumption values.

The paper aimed at examining the influence of consumer's environmental awareness on their intention to visit green hotels in north Cyprus, the mediation role of consumption values. Research on eco-friendly hotels stressed that conventional hotels do not make available to consumers the environmental awareness and consumption values, whereas, there is possibility that these benefits might not sit well with the hotel potential consumers. Aside highlighting the features of green hotels, it is imperative to examine how consumers perceive consumption values.

Is it possible to predict atherosclerosis in the ascending aorta by the patient's lipid panel?

Introduction: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory event characterized by stiffness and thickening of the vascular walls. In our daily practice, we assume the atherosclerotic potential of the patient by following the total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglyceride levels (lipid panel). We aimed to understand the relation between the HDL, LDL, cholesterol levels and the atherosclerosis in large vascular structures such as the ascending aorta.

Investigation of carbonates in the Sutter's Mill meteorite grains with hyperspectral infrared imaging micro-spectroscopy.

Synchrotron-based high spatial resolution hyperspectral infrared imaging technique provides thousands of infrared spectra with high resolution, thus allowing us to acquire detailed spatial maps of chemical molecular structures for many grains in short times. Utilizing this technique, thousands of infrared spectra were analyzed at once instead of inspecting each spectrum separately. Sutter's Mill meteorite is a unique carbonaceous type meteorite with highly heterogeneous chemical composition.

Synchrotron-Based Three-Dimensional Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectro-Microtomography of Murchison Meteorite Grain.

We demonstrate nondestructive, three-dimensional, microscopic, infrared (IR) spectral in-situ imaging of an extraterrestrial sample. Spatially resolved chemical composition and spatial correlations are investigated within a single 45 µm grain of the Murchison meteorite. Qualitative and quantitative investigation through this analytical technique can help elucidate the origin and evolution of meteoritic compounds as well as parent body processes without damaging or altering the investigated samples.

This study examines the effect that public relations activities can have regarding consumer decisions and choice. To explore exemplify this relationship a questionnaire was given to 971 patients within public, university and private hospitals in Ankara, Turkey.
