Purpose: Polymeric clips (Hem-o-lok ligation system) are now widely used to securing the base of the appendix during laparoscopic appendectomy. Studies comparing the use of single or double hem-o-lok clips are limited. The aim of this study was to compare the reliability of a single hem-o-lok clips with a double hem-o-lok clips for closure of an appendiceal stump.

The SMA compression is commonly reported to be accompanied by the CA compression caused by the median arcuate ligament (MAL) while the synchronous compression of CA and SMA by other ligaments has been rarely reported.
Case Presentation: In this report, we present a 64-year-old female patient who presented with a postprandial abdominal pain and weight loss.
Objective: This study aims to examine whether cardiac surgery leads to symptom progression in the early postoperative period in patients with the peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and evaluate the difference between on-pump (OPCAB) and off-pump (ONCAB) coronary artery bypass graft surgery with regard to the symptom progression.
Methods: This retrospective study included one hundred consecutive adult patients with PAD at Fontaine stage 2b (pain-free walking distance less than 100 m) undergoing ONCAB and one hundred consecutive adult patients with PAD at Fontaine stage 2b (pain-free walking distance less than 100 m) undergoing OPCAB. Symptom progression was defined as the development of ischemic rest pain (Fontaine stage 3).
Introduction: Sepsis is an important cause of mortality and morbidity, and inflammatory response and oxidative stress play major roles underlying its pathophysiology. Here, we evaluated the effect of intraperitoneal etanercept administration on oxidative stress and inflammation indicators in the kidney and blood of experimental sepsis-induced rats.
Methods: Twenty-eight adult Sprague Dawley rats were classified into Control (Group 1), Sepsis (Group 2), Sepsis+Cefazolin (Group 3), and Sepsis+Cefazolin+Etanercept (Group 4) groups.
Oxidative stress is one of the main causes of diabetic nephropathy, which is a complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of ethyl pyruvate (EP) in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats' kidney. Four groups (n = 8) of male Wistar albino rats were used as follows: control group rats received only sodium citrate buffer solution intraperitoneally (ip).

Although it is a known fact that soft tissue sarcomas show slow growth, there have been some cases in literature similar to our case in which there was a fast-growing tumour tissue causing breathing and swallowing difficulties due to painless pressure. For diagnosis, there is no specific clinical or radiological finding.

Clinical presentation of SMAS is characterized by the dilatation of the proximal part of the third part of the duodenum. SMAS is a rare cause of the upper gastrointestinal system (UGS) obstruction.

Twenty-eight rats were divided into four groups as control (group 1), peritonitis (group 2), peritonitis + cefazolin sodium (group 3), and peritonitis + cefazolin sodium + etanercept (group 4). Peritoneal tissue and blood samples were taken from all of the rats for histopathological and biochemical examination.

DJS may cause vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) with normal bladder contraction. The aim of this study is to comparison risk of BKN, urinary tract infections (UTI) and postoperative urologic complications with the use DJS with anti-reflux device (ARD-DJS) and standart double J stent (St-DJS).

There is a need to develop simple and reliable noninvasive tests that can accurately identify patients with PE, even in small hospitals or clinics. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) for predicting occurrence of PE in patients with DVT.

Even within euthyroid ranges, thyroid function has been reported to be associated with carotid atherosclerosis. However, the relationship between thyroid function and carotid PU remains unclear.

Association between nadir hematocrit levels on cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and postoperative hyperglycemia is not clear. This study was carried out to determine the relationship between nadir hematocrit during CPB and postoperative hyperglycemia in nondiabetic patients.

We aimed to evaluate whether mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) are helpful to identify complete thrombus resolution (CTR) after acute deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Patients who had first-time episode of acute proximal DVT were included in this retrospective study. 100 patients with DVT were divided into two groups according to absence (group 1; n = 68) or presence (group 2; n = 32) of CTR on doppler ultrasonography at month 6.

AAC is frequently associated with gangrene, perforation, and empyema. Due to these associated complications, AAC can be associated with high morbidity and mortality.
