Pseudotumor cerebri complicating measles: a case report and literature review.

A previously healthy 8-year-old girl patient was referred with the complaints of severe headache associated with nausea and vomiting. Three weeks prior to her admission, she had measles manifested with fever and typical skin eruptions. Fundoscopic examination revealed bilateral swollen optic discs with tortuous blood vessels.

Pulmonary tuberculosis and cutaneous mycobacterial infection in a patient with incontinentia pigmenti.

Lupus vulgaris is reinfection tuberculosis of the skin and may result from direct extension, or hematogenous or lymphatic spread from a tuberculosis focus. Lupus vulgaris following bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination is a rare entity. Incontinentia pigmenti is an X-linked dominant genodermatosis in which vesicular, verrucous, and pigmented lesions are associated with various developmental defects.

An uncommon presentation: chronic meningococcaemia associated with cholestatic hepatitis in a Turkish child.

Chronic meningococcaemia is a very rare clinical manifestation of invasive infection by Neisseria meningitidis. A 9-year-old girl was admitted to our clinic with complaints of fever, headache, arthralgia, and maculopapular rash. The diagnosis was made by the growth of Neisseria meningitidis in the blood cultures.

Recurrent pneumococcal meningitis in homozygous C3 deficiency.

Congenital deficiencies of complement system proteins are rare. A 4-year-old girl was admitted for meningitis. She had had repeated attacks of pneumococcal meningitis and otitis media at the age of 3 years.

Neonatal tetanus in the middle Black Sea region of Turkey.

We retrospectively analyzed 62 cases with neonatal tetanus (NT) seen in the Department of Pediatrics of Ondokuz Mayis University from 1989 to 2001. Epidemiological characteristics and prognostic factors on survival were investigated. We grouped the patients into two groups, the survivors and those who died.

Adrenal hemorrhage due to vitamin-K deficiency.

Adrenal hemorrhage has many etiologies including bleeding diathesis. A 10-day-old female baby was admitted to our clinic with the complaint of abdominal distention. Hemorrhage was determined on the right adrenal gland with abdominal ultrasonography and computerized tomography.

Meningitis due to Salmonella in preterm neonates.

Meningitis due to Salmonella is a rare condition. Here we report seven cases with neonatal Salmonella meningitis diagnosed and treated in the Pediatric Neonatology Unit of Ondokuz Mayis University Faculty of Medicine between January 1985-February 2001. Five cases were cured with appropriate treatment; in two of them no neurological sequelae were seen.
