Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on tendon injuries in complex wounds of the hand and lower extremities, exploring how different types of adipofascial tissue flaps affect healing and functional recovery.
  • It compares vascularised versus nonvascularised adipofascial flaps using Wistar Albino rats, assessing healing through scintigraphic evaluations and histopathological analysis.
  • Results indicate that vascularised flaps promote faster healing while pedicle-free flaps also aid tendon recovery without complications, providing insights for improving tendon repair techniques in reconstructive surgery.

Loss of the radius with open fractures of the forearm is rarely reported in pediatric cases and to the authors' knowledge, cases of segmental loss of the distal half of the ulna have not been previously reported. A 6-year-old girl was admitted with a Gustilo-Anderson type IIIB open forearm fracture and loss of the distal half of the ulna after a motor vehicle accident. Serial debridement was performed and a Kirschner wire was inserted into the distal half of the ulna.
