Evaluation of problems arising in emergency services from the perspectives of medical and criminal law: The example of Türkiye.

Introduction: In recent years, the field of medical malpractice has attracted growing attention, and despite the long history of research in this area, aspects of this phenomenon remain unexplored. In this paper, we aimed to explore the issue of medical malpractice, focusing on cases involving healthcare professionals working in emergency services in Türkiye. We examine the surge in medical malpractice lawsuits, the consequences of such cases, and the prevalence of criminal liability faced by healthcare professionals.

Simulation-Based Enhancement of Patient Safety During Intrahospital Transport of Trauma Patients With COVID-19: A Helipad Scenario.

Trauma resulting from accidents, violence, or war claims over five million lives annually, with traffic accidents and falls being predominant causes. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges in trauma care. Even though the number of injuries decreased during the lockdown period, the transportation of trauma patients became even more challenging due to concerns about infection control and the need for enhanced protective measures.

Background: Chatbots hold great potential to serve as support tool in diagnosis and clinical decision process. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the accuracy of chatbots in diagnosing pulmonary embolism (PE). Furthermore, we assessed their performance in determining the PE severity.

A Novel and Simple Method for a Differentiation of Alcohol Types.

Background: Alcohol poisoning is a significant global problem that has become an epidemic. The determination of the alcohol type is hereby essential as it may affect the course of the treatment; however, there is no routine laboratory diagnostic method for alcohol types other than for ethanol. In this study, we aimed to define a simple method for alcohol type differentiation by utilizing a combination of breathalyzer and spectrophotometrically measured serum ethanol results.

Accuracy of the Apple Watch in measuring oxygen saturation: comparison with pulse oximetry and ABG.

Background: Smartwatches have gained tremendous attention in recent years and have become widely accepted by patients, despite not being intended for medical diagnosis.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the accuracy of Apple Watch oxygen saturation measurement in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD by comparing it with medical-grade pulse oximetry and ABG.

Method: This single-center, prospective, cross-sectional study involved 167 patients.

Acute effects of synthetic cannabinoids on ventricular repolarization parameters.

Objective: An association between ventricular repolarization parameters (VRPs) and ventricular arrhythmias has been demonstrated in previous studies. However, there are limited data related to a relationship between synthetic cannabinoids (SCs) and VRPs. The aim of this study was to analyze the acute effects of SCs on VRPs using electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements of the T-peak to T-end interval (Tp-e), Tp-e/QT ratio, and Tp-e/corrected QT (QTc) ratio.
