Background: There is limited information on the immediate effects of whole-body vibration (WBV) on the upper limb. This study aims to determine the immediate effects of WBV on reaction speed and proprioception in young adult students' upper extremities.
Methods: In total, 62 students participated in the study.
Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia and affects a large portion of the elderly population worldwide.
Objective: To analyze the relationship between lamina cribrosa thickness (LCT) and hippocampal volume in patients with AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
Methods: The sample in the present study consisted of 20 recently diagnosed MCI patients, 20 recently diagnosed AD patients, and 20 matched healthy volunteers.
Background: Anemia due to malnutrition may develop as a result of iron, folate and vitamin B12 deficiencies. This situation poses a higher risk of morbidity and mortality in the geriatric population than in other age groups. Therefore, early diagnosis of anemia and early initiation of treatment is very important.

Pulmonary fibrosis is an important health problem; one of the drugs used in its treatment is pirfenidone (PFD). Fisetin (FST) is a flavonoid with antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrotic effects. The aim of this study was to induce PF in rats with bleomycin (BLM) and to investigate the combined effect of PFD and FST in the treatment of fibrosis.

Methods: The study included 56 eyes of 56 rheumatoid arthritis patients and 65 eyes of 65 age- and sex-matched healthy normal participants. CVIs of all participants were measured by transferring enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT) images to the image J program that is software used for image binarization and compared between the 2 groups.
Background: Fragmented QRS (fQRS) might be associated with certain characteristics in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients and inhospital adverse events.
Materials And Methods: A sum of 500 patients were gone over retrospectively. Patients with STEMI, all undergone percutaneous coronary intervention, were grouped as fQRS (-) and fQRS (+).

Background And Purpose: Management of treatment-resistant patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) remains an important issue. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of rituximab (RTX) treatment on the prognosis of patients with acetylcholine receptor autoantibody-positive (AChR-Ab+), muscle-specific kinase autoantibody-positive (MuSK-Ab+), or seronegative or double seropositive MG.
Methods: Nineteen patients treated with RTX between 2015 and 2020 were included in this study.
Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the frequency of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), to investigate the impairment of hand functions in patients with prediabetes (PD), and to compare laboratory findings of PD patients with and without CTS.
Patients And Methods: Between June 2018 and January 2019, a total of 115 patients (29 males, 86 females; mean age: 51.4±11.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a heterogeneous disorder that spans a continuum with multiple phases, including preclinical, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. Unlike for most other chronic diseases, human studies reporting on AD gut microbiota in the literature are very limited. With the scarcity of approved drugs for AD therapies, the rational and precise modulation of gut microbiota composition using diet and other tools is a promising approach to the management of AD.

Materials And Method: The demographic and clinical characteristics, prognosis and prognosis predictors of 72 patients who were diagnosed with SE between 2013 and 2018 were retrospectively evaluated. The STESS was used to predict prognosis, and the modified Rankin scale (mRS) was used to determine the disability at discharge.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common chronic neurological diseases affecting the central nervous system in young adults.
Objective: To investigate demographic and clinical factors that are effective in the development of irreversible disability from the onset of MS, and to identify factors that affect the transformation from the relapse-remitting MS (RRMS) phase to the progressive MS (PMS) phase.
Methods: Retrospective study on 741 patients who were diagnosed with RRMS and PMS according to the McDonald criteria, and were enrolled into the Turkish MS database of the Department of Neurology MS Polyclinic, at the Faculty of Medicine, Karadeniz Technical University, in Trabzon, Turkey.
Introduction: This study aimed to establish whether there is a relationship between the Monocyte to High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (MHR) and severity of disease, and whether it can be used as a new marker for predicting disability in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic disease, which is usually contracted in early adolescence.
Methods: 184 patient subjects who had been definitively diagnosed with MS, based on the McDonald criteria, and 105 healthy subjects with a similar age and gender profile were included in the study. The patients' Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores, MS subtypes, length of time with the disease and demographics were captured.
Objective: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate cognitive and behavioral changes after status epilepticus (SE) induced by pentylenetetrazole in immature rats via Morris water maze and open-field area tests and to assess alterations in expression of 84 key genes involved in synaptic plasticity after SE.
Method: The study was conducted on 30 immature rats (12-days old). The rats were assigned into groups as control and experiment (SE) groups.
Dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis is considered to have critical roles in maintenance of physiological functioning. We aimed to reveal whether there is any specific aberration in thiol-disulfide homeostasis in three distinct categories of individuals, including those who 1) exercise regularly (fitness group), 2) have a sedentary lifestyle (sedentary group) and 3) are overweight or obese (overweight/obese group). 72 male individuals were included in the study, 21 of whom were in fitness group, 28 of whom were overweight or obese and 23 of whom had a sedentary lifestyle.

We investigated the effects of clopidogrel, calcium dobesilate, nebivolol, and atorvastatin on the development of intimal hyperplasia in rabbits after carotid venous bypass surgery. We divided 40 male New Zealand rabbits into 4 study groups and 1 control group.

This study is designed to evaluate the risk factors for stroke in patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass surgery in an 8-year period in our clinic.
Methods: Between 1995 and 2003, 8547 coronary artery operations under cardiopulmonary bypass were performed.
Background: The objective of our study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect and inhibiting action of diltiazem, a calcium channel blocking agent, on the systemic inflammatory response seen after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in humans, in a controlled prospective study.
Material/methods: Two groups of 15 candidates for coronary artery bypass graft were enrolled in the study. In the study group, 1 g/kg/min of diltiazem was infused during cardiopulmonary bypass, while the control group received saline.
Background: We planned a prospective study to evaluate the regression of left ventricular mass one year after surgery in older patients (
Material/methods: Between 1998 and 2000, 54 patients had aortic valve replacement with stentless bioprostheses (14 CryoLife-O'Brien, 40 Medtronic Freestyle), and 62 patients had aortic valve replacement with St. Jude Medical mechanical valve.
Background: Coronary artery anomalies are discovered in less than 1% of angiography series. Since the number of angiographies and coronary bypass operations are increasing significantly every day, these anomalies are of clinical importance.
Material/methods: 58,023 coronary angiographies were performed in the cardiology clinic of our hospital from 1978 to 2001.
