Predictive prognostic scoring (PS) systems are not primarily applicable to elderly patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). The objective of this study was to develop a PS system for these patients. The derivation cohort (DC) was utilized for model development, consisting of 97 variables.

During the last decades the application of therapeutic apheresis has expanded to a broad spectrum of hematological and non-hematological diseases due to various studies on the clinical efficacy of this procedure. In this context there are more than 30 centers performing therapeutic apheresis and registered in the apheresis database in Turkey.

The halving time (HT) and reduction ratio (RR) of transcript levels have recently emerged as additional prognostic indexes besides the International Scale (IS). We aimed to investigate the prognostic role of transcript levels, HT, and RR on molecular response kinetics at 3 months in patients with newly diagnosed chronic-phase (CP)-CML.

Increased oxidative stress has an important role in leukemic transformation in these patients. In this study, we aimed to find an answer to the question, "Could Ruxolitinib, which has been widely used in patients with myelofibrosis in recent years, have a role in reducing oxidative stress in these patients?".
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The trio Essential Thrombocytosis (ET), Polycythemia Vera (PV), and Primary Myelofibrosis (PM) are BCR-ABL negative myeloproliferative neoplasms. All three diseases have the risk of transforming into acute leukemia. Oxidative stress and some genetic mutations increase the risk of leukemic transformation.

Psoas muscle areas were determined in the PET/CT scans of the patients taken for staging at the time of diagnosis and after two cycles of ABVD. After evaluating the effect of low muscle mass on overall survival, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyzes were performed by including it in IPS systems.

There are different drug combinations and conditioning regimens in lymphoma transplants. However, no randomized data is available to demonstrate the superiority of any regimen and the optimal choice is unknown. In this analysis, we compared the efficacy, toxicity and the survival outcomes of the BEAM and the high dose ICE (hdICE) conditioning regimens in relapsed NHL and relapsed/refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma patients undergoing auto-SCT.

The use of frozen stem cells can promote donor compatibility, and overcoming possible problems due to insufficient stem cell mobilization will also be easier. Nevertheless, studies about the use of frozen peripheral stem cells in allogenic transplantation are extremely rare.

Novel markers are available for the differential diagnosis of CLL, especially from MCL. However, these markers are still not incorporated into diagnostic algorithms.

Methods: The research population consisted of 217 participants in total: 54 control, 53 ID, 58 non-ID anemia, and 52 IDA patients. A hemoglobin (Hb) value of < 130.

Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is a procedure that reduces circulating autoantibodies of the patients. TPE is commonly used in neurological disorders where autoimmunity plays a major role. We report our experience with regard to the indications, adverse events and outcomes of plasma exchange in neurological disorders.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective multicenter study, 130 patients of ≥60 years old who were ineligible for intensive chemotherapy or had progressed despite conventional treatment were included.
Results: The median age was 73 years and 61.

MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small non-coding RNA molecules that play critical roles in cell differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis and thus regulate haematopoietic stem cells and committed progenitor cells. We analyzed expressions of miRNAs associated with hematopoietic transformation of myeloid, erythroid and megakaryocytic progenitor cells during haematopoiesis (mir155, mir181a, mir221, mir222, mir223, mir451), in patients with primary myelofibrosis (PMF) (n = 22), polycythemia vera (PV) (n = 33), essential thrombocythemia (ET) (n = 49) and in healthy controls (n = 40) by quantitate/real time polymerase chain reaction. RT-PCR testing was negative for BCR-ABL1 fusion gene in all the patients.

Hemodialysis patients are at increased risk of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) compared with the general population. QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT-G) for LTBI detection is more promising than tuberculin skin test (TST) in hemodialysis patients. The aim of this study is to determine whether the QFT-G is more sensitive than the TST in hemodialysis patients in LTBI.

Rosiglitazone (ROS) improves insulin sensitivity in the liver, muscle, and adipose tissue. We prospectively investigated the effects of ROS on cardiac functions by standard (SDE) and tissue Doppler echocardiography (TDI) in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients.

Coexistence of TTP/HUS and adult onset Still's disease (ASD) is extremely rare. We report the case of a 46-year-old woman who presented with fever, arthritis, myalgias, petechia on skin and confusion five years after the onset of ASD.
