Algofunctional outcome after intra-articular bipolar pulsed radiofrequency ablation for pain in osteoarthritis of the knee: A retrospective study.

There is a paucity of research and evidence, regarding the effectiveness of applying bipolar pulsed radiofrequency (bPRF) in osteoarthritis of the knee. This study aimed to search for the impact of intra-articular bPRF (IA-bPRF) on pain, functionality, and quality of life in individuals with advanced knee osteoarthritis. A total of 35 patients experiencing knee pain were included in the study.

The effect of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on weight loss and cognitive function in overweight or obese individuals on weight-loss diet.

Objective: omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are important nutrients that play role in obesity, body lipids, inflammation, and neural function. There is controversy in studies on the effect of omega-3 PUFA supplementation on weight loss and cognitive function. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of omega-3 PUFA supplementation on weight loss and cognitive function in obese or overweight adults on a weight loss diet.

Peroperative effects of fresh frozen plasma and antithrombin III on heparin sensitivity and coagulation during nitroglycerine infusion in coronary artery bypass surgery.

Nitroglycerin (NTG) reduces the anticoagulant effects of heparin and may lead to heparin resistance. Fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and antithrombin III (ATIII) may be used for the treatment of heparin resistance. We aimed to compare the effects of FFP and ATIII on heparin requirement, coagulation parameters, and bleeding in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABGS) with moderate dose of intraoperative NTG infusion.

Pain on injection of propofol: a comparison of methylene blue and lidocaine.

Study Objective: To investigate whether methylene blue, given before injection of propofol, was effective in reducing the frequency and severity of pain associated with propofol injection.

Design: Prospective, randomized, double-blinded clinical study.

Dexmedetomidine as a substitute for remifentanil in ambulatory gynecologic laparoscopic surgery.

Objective: To compare dexmedetomidine with remifentanil in desflurane based ambulatory gynecologic laparoscopic surgery, in respect to its effects on orientation, discharge time, nausea-vomiting, and postoperative analgesic need.

Methods: Sixty 20-40 year old ASA I-II patients undergoing gynecologic laparoscopic surgery were randomized into 2 groups. This study was performed in the operating theaters of the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Hacettepe, Turkey in 2004 as a prospective, randomized, and double blinded study.
