Background: Supportive care (SC) refers to the prevention and management of complications of cancer and its treatment. While it has long been recognized as an important cancer care delivery component, a high proportion of patients face unaddressed SC needs, calling for innovative approaches to deliver SC.

Objective: The objective of this master protocol is to evaluate the implementation of different integrated proactive SC pathways across the cancer care continuum in our institution (Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France).

Background: We aimed to generate a model of cancer-related fatigue (CRF) of clinical importance 2 years after diagnosis of breast cancer building on clinical and behavioral factors and integrating pre-treatment markers of systemic inflammation.

Patients And Methods: Women with stage I-III hormone receptor-positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative breast cancer were included from the multimodal, prospective CANTO cohort (NCT01993498). The primary outcome was global CRF of clinical importance [European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ)-C30 ≥40/100] 2 years after diagnosis (year 2).

Background: Hormone receptor expression is a known positive prognostic and predictive factor in breast cancer; however, limited evidence exists on its prognostic impact on prognosis of young patients harboring a pathogenic variant (PV) in the BRCA1 and/or BRCA2 genes.

Patients And Methods: This international, multicenter, retrospective cohort study included young patients (aged ≤40 years) diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and harboring germline PVs in BRCA genes. We investigated the impact of hormone receptor status on clinical behavior and outcomes of breast cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • A nationwide survey in France asked breast cancer survivors about their thoughts on personalizing endocrine therapy (ET) to make it better for patients.
  • Most participants agreed that schedules and pill types should be customized, but many didn't have a strong opinion about how the medicine looked.
  • Many survivors wanted more information and tools, like a mobile app, to help manage side effects and understand ET's effects on their daily lives.

Purpose: Postdiagnosis exercise is associated with lower breast cancer (BC) mortality but its link with risk of recurrence is less clear. We investigated the impact and dose-response relationship of exercise and recurrence in patients with primary BC.

Methods: Multicenter prospective cohort analysis among 10,359 patients with primary BC from 26 centers in France between 2012 and 2018 enrolled in the CANcer TOxicities study, with follow-up through October 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • Breast cancer (BC) is rare in women aged ≤40 years with BRCA1/2 variants, but it often presents aggressive features; recent studies show HER2-low expression as a potential treatment target in this subset.
  • A study analyzed data from 3,547 young women with newly diagnosed HER2-negative BC, finding that 32.3% exhibited HER2-low status, which was more common in hormone receptor-positive and BRCA2 variant cases.
  • Results indicated that HER2-low BC had better disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) compared to HER2-0, particularly in triple-negative tumors, with lower grades and more favorable outcomes linked to BRCA2 variants.

Purpose: In this study, we evaluated readability and understandability of nine French-language Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) that are currently used in a contemporary longitudinal cohort of breast cancer survivors as part of an effort to improve equity in cancer care and research.

Methods: Readability of PROMs was assessed using the Flesh Reading Ease Score (FRES), the Gunning's Fog Index (FOG), and the FRY graphics. Readability was considered ideal if mean score ≤ 6th-grade level and acceptable if between 6th and 8th grade.

Article Synopsis
  • * Genomic analysis reveals over 99% sequence identity between recent and historical Mpox cases, indicating a high level of conservation among related viruses, including Cowpox and Variola.
  • * Similarities in immune responses were found across different Pox viruses, suggesting that existing Variola vaccines may be effective against Mpox due to these molecular connections.

Enteric duplication cysts are rare congenital malformations of the gastrointestinal tract. Prenatal diagnosis can be achieved through ultrasound, which may reveal a cystic mass, though the differential diagnosis is broad. We report a case in which the prenatal ultrasound detection of an abdominal cystic mass prompted postnatal magnetic resonance imaging, leading to the diagnosis of an enteric duplication cyst.

The patient reported here underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) due to chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) caused by biallelic mutations of the NCF1 gene. Two years later, he developed AML, which was unexpected and was recognized via sex-mismatched chromosomes as deriving from the donor cells; the patient was male, and the donor was his sister. Donor cell leukemia (DCL) is very rare, and it had never been reported in patients with CGD after HSCT.
