Comparison of distraction techniques using salivary biomarkers during local anaesthesia administration in children aged 3-5 years: A clinical study.

Aim: In paediatric dentistry, pain is adversely influenced by a child's level of anxiety. Ironically, the most common form of pain control used in dentistry, local anaesthesia, can itself produce anxiety. One of the techniques to overcome a child's anxiety is using distraction.

Diagnostic Accuracy of the Government of India Mother and Child Protection Card for Developmental Screening of Indian Children Aged 2-36 Months: A Hospital-based Mixed Method Study.

Objective: Universal developmental screening is recommen-ded at 9, 18, 24 and 36 months. The Government of India Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card is an immunization record that is used to monitor child development, and identify children requiring further evaluation.

Objectives: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of the MCP card for developmental screening, and perform its item analysis.

The need for everyday-real-time EEG sensing has resulted in the development of minimalistic and discreet wearable EEG measuring devices. A front runner in this race is in-ear worn device. However, the position of the ear as well as its restricted accessibility poses certain challenges in the design of such devices - from the type of materials used to the placement of electrodes.

Solitary plasmacytoma of mandible: an unusual bilateral presentation.

Plasmacytoma is a neoplastic proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells, which can present clinically as solitary bone neoplasm, extramedullary plasmacytoma, and multiple myeloma. The biological behavior of these tumors is variable from periods of clinical latency to rapid growth and progression from localized forms to more disseminated multiple myeloma. We present the case of solitary plasmacytoma of the mandible with rare bilateral involvement in a 65-year-old female patient.

Retinopathy of prematurity screening and retinal hemorrhages - Our experience among Indian babies.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical characteristics of intraocular hemorrhages among babies screened for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and thereby their additional risk to the progression of ROP.

Methods: A descriptive study was conducted at a tertiary referral hospital, which included 108 eyes of 60 neonates who were discovered to have retinal hemorrhages on retinal screening of 540 babies at risk for ROP. Maternal, obstetric, and neonatal risk factors were assessed in neonates with retinal hemorrhages.

Glass wool tripod foreign bodies in the eye: first ever reported case series.

We present three cases of unusual corneal/conjunctival foreign bodies that were not visible on standard slit lamp examination. All patients presented with complaints of foreign body sensation in the affected eyes. One patient had visited an ophthalmologist prior to presentation to our center and was diagnosed and treated for conjunctivitis.

Compound odontoma.

Odontomas have been extensively reported in the dental literature, and the term refers to tumors of odontogenic origin. Though the exact etiology is still unknown, the postulated causes include: local trauma, infection, inheritance and genetic mutation. The majority of the lesions are asymptomatic; however, may be accompanied with pain and swelling as secondary complaints in some cases.

Familial progressive hyperpigmentation: a case report.

Familial progressive hyperpigmentation (FPH) is a rare genodermatosis characterized by hyperpigmented patches in the skin and mucous membranes, present in early infancy, and increase in size and number with age. The genetic basis for FPH remains unknown. We report an unusual case of familial progressive hypermelanosis in a 17-year-old male patient with family history, who presented with a peculiar progressive oral pigmentation disorder.

Cysticercosis is a parasitic infestation caused by the larval stage of Taenia solium, a cestodic paratise. It is a common disease in developing countries where it is also endemic. The most commonly infested body organs include subcutaneous tissues, brain and skeletal muscles.

Type III Dens Invaginatus with an Associated Cyst: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Dens invaginatus (dens in dente) is a rare malformation with a widely varied morphology. An unusual presentation of a type III dens invaginatus affecting a conical shaped permanent lateral incisor in an 8-year-old female patient is reported. The presence of a pulp stone and a periapical radiolucency further added onto the complexity of the case.
