To understand parental stress resulting from parenting young children, the current literature has primarily focused on families of children with clinical conditions, but has placed far less attention on the general population. The aim of this study was to examine parenting stress related to children's clinical conditions and behavioral problems in a nationally representative sample of US children aged 3 to 5 years. The study sample included 8454 children aged 3 to 5 years and their parents who participated in the 2018-2019 US National Survey of Child Health (NSCH).

The American Academy of Pediatrics's guideline on health supervision for children with Down syndrome (DS) offers pediatricians guidance to improve detection of comorbid conditions. Pediatrician adherence has not yet been comprehensively evaluated. Medical records of 31 children with DS who received primary care at two urban academic clinic sites from 2008-2012 were reviewed.
