- The study compares the effectiveness of endoscopic ultrasound-guided liver biopsy (EUS-LB) and percutaneous liver biopsy (PC-LB) based on data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
- Both biopsy methods showed similar sample adequacy and diagnostic accuracy, but PC-LB resulted in longer, non-fragmented tissue specimens.
- Ultimately, while EUS-LB and PC-LB are comparable in diagnosis, PC-LB offers an advantage in specimen length according to the findings.
Introduction: In the management of acute hospital admissions during the COVID-19 pandemic, safe patient cohorting depends on robust admission diagnostic strategies. It is essential that screening strategies are sensitive and rapid, to prevent nosocomial transmission of COVID-19 and maintain patient flow.
Methods: We retrospectively identified all COVID-19 positive and suspected cases at our institution screened by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) between 4 April and 28 June 2020.
The endoscopic management of large colonic polyps is a rapidly changing field. Rapid evolution in endoscopic techniques and skills has resulted in diminishing the role of surgery in the management of larger and complex polyps. This is resulting in organ preservation for many who otherwise would have undergone surgery.
