Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the trends and outcomes associated with transferring pediatric patients with acute testicular torsion from community hospitals to specialized pediatric centers between 2018 and 2023.
  • Researchers compared two groups: patients treated at a pediatric center immediately versus those transferred, analyzing clinical outcomes and costs incurred during the process.
  • Results showed an increase in transfers, a significant delay in surgical intervention for transferred patients, and a higher incidence of orchiectomy among those treated directly at pediatric centers, indicating potential inefficiencies in the transfer process.
