Perceptions of female surgeons in the workplace; a cultural and social struggle.

Background: Women in surgery face distinctive challenges, barriers, and obstacles in the workplace. The objective of this work was to evaluate perceptions toward female surgeons from a personal, cultural, and professional perspective in a tertiary hospital in Cuenca (Ecuador).

Methods: Qualitative ethnographic study based on the SRQR guidelines.

Optimizing laparoscopic and robotic skills through simulation in participants with limited or no prior experience: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Simulation is an innovative tool for developing complex skills required for surgical training. The objective of this study was to determine the advancement of laparoscopic and robotic skills through simulation in participants with limited or no previous experience.

Methods: This is a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in keeping with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis guidelines.
