Targeted therapy with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) such as imatinib is effective in treating gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), but it is rarely curative. Despite the presence of a robust immune CD8+ T-cell infiltrate, combining a TKI with immune-checkpoint blockade (ICB) in advanced GIST has achieved only modest effects. We present the case of a patient who developed esophageal adenocarcinoma after a previous laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Bariatric surgery has emerged as the most effective treatment option for weight loss and obesity-related diseases; however, sleeve gastrectomy promotes gastroesophageal reflux and leads to Barrett's esophagus in a substantial portion of patients. The natural history of Barrett's esophagus in these patients is unknown, and active surveillance is recommended until the incidence of dysplasia and adenocarcinoma in this population is clarified.

A new automated method to retrieve charge layer polarity from flashes, named Chargepol, is presented in this paper. Using data from the NASA Lightning Mapping Array (LMA) deployed during the Remote sensing of Electrification, Lightning, And Mesoscale/microscale Processes with Adaptive Ground Observations (RELAMPAGO) field campaign in Cordoba, Argentina, from November 2018 to April 2019, this method estimates the polarity of vertical charge distributions and their altitudes and thicknesses (or vertical depth) using the very-high frequency (VHF) source emissions detected by LMAs. When this method is applied to LMA data for extended periods of time, it is capable of inferring a storm's bulk electrical charge structure throughout its life cycle.
