This paper presents a novel investigation of a magnetic sensor that employs Fano/Tamm resonance within the photonic band gap of a one-dimensional crystal structure. The design incorporates a thin layer of gold (Au) alongside a periodic arrangement of Tantalum pentoxide ([Formula: see text]) and Cesium iodide ([Formula: see text]) in the configuration [Formula: see text]. We utilized the transfer matrix method in conjunction with the Drude model to analyze the formation of Fano/Tamm states and the permittivity of the metallic layer, respectively.

In this regard, the designed structure can act as a simple and efficient detector for fat concentrations in milk samples. Here, the hyperbolic and gyroidal metamaterials represent the two types of metamaterials that are stacked together to construct the candidate structure; meanwhile, the designed 1D PCs can be simply configured as [()].

Unfortunately, IBD patients' quality of life is negatively impacted by the symptoms associated with the disease. The exact etiology of IBD pathogenesis is not fully understood, but the emerging research indicated that the microRNA (miRNA) plays an important role.

Right ventricular (RV) failure is not an uncommon complication of PE leading to higher adverse outcomes. The tricuspid annular peak systolic excursion/pulmonary artery systolic pressure (TAPSE/PASP) ratio as a surrogate for RV-pulmonary artery coupling has proven to be among the predictor of clinical outcomes in multiple patient groups.

Methods: HCC patients who underwent LR between 2010 and 2020 were analyzed. They were divided into 3 groups depending on the patient's age.
Liver transplantation (LT) provides a life-saving option for cirrhotic patients with complications and hepatocellular carcinoma. Despite the increasing number of liver transplants performed each year, the number of LT candidates on the waitlist remains unchanged due to an imbalance between donor organ supply and the demand which increases the waitlist time and mortality. Living donor liver transplant had a great role in increasing the donor pool and shortened waitlist time for LT candidates.

This study aimed to examine the analgesic effect of retrolaminar block in promoting recovery and pain relief after posterior lumbar discectomy.
Methods: The patients undergoing elective posterior lumbar discectomy were randomised into the retrolaminar group (n = 36) (received an intra-operative bilateral retrolaminar block with 15 mL of bupivacaine 0.
The Matlab program has been utilized in this study to examine the absorption spectral properties of a one-dimensional photonic crystal (1DPCs) comprising two composite metamaterials through near IR wavelengths. The composite metamaterials are designed from Ag of a gyroidal geometry (layer A) and hyperbolic metamaterial (layer B). Therefore, the introduced design is labeled as [Formula: see text] with n and m to define the periodicity of the hyperbolic metamaterial and the whole structure, respectively.

Methods: We reviewed the patients' data who underwent liver resection for HCC between November 2009 and 2019. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the tumor size.

Background: Perioperative pain management strategies in the elderly undergoing hip arthroplasty need special and safe preemptive care.
Objectives: The primary aim of this study was to compare the analgesic effects of preemptive ultrasound-guided pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block and lumbar erector spinae plane block (L-ESPB) in the elderly undergoing hip arthroplasty. The time to the first postoperative rescue analgesia was measured.
Purpose: It is essential to understand the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of preeclampsia cerebral complications. This study aimed to compare the cerebral hemodynamic effects of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) and labetalol in pre-eclampsia patients with severe features.
Methods: Singleton pregnant women who suffered from late onset preeclampsia with severe features were enrolled and subjected to baseline Transcranial doppler (TCD) evaluation and then randomly assigned to either the magnesium sulfate group or labetalol group.
The most common liver disease in the world is fatty liver disease related to metabolic dysfunction, yet neither patients nor medical professionals are fully aware of this. The disease, formerly known for decades as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), has been renamed metabolic (dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), with many international consensus groups making recommendations on how the condition should be diagnosed and treated. This point of view explores the nomenclature change from the standpoint of Arab medical professionals and patients.

Background: COVID- 19 vaccines have been released, giving a major hope of getting rid of the dark pandemic crisis. The availability of vaccines does not necessarily mean that the mass vaccination program is a success. We aimed to investigate COVID-19 vaccination knowledge level, acceptance rate, and perception state among Egyptians.

The hypothesis of this study was to investigate the effect of perioperative magnesium sulfate and labetalol infusion on peripheral perfusion and postoperative pain in patients undergoing nasal surgery.
Methods: A total of 50 patients were randomly assigned into two equal groups in this double-blind clinical study: the magnesium sulfate group; received 40 mg/kg loading dose of intravenous (IV) magnesium sulfate followed by 10-15 mg/kg/h continuous IV infusion and the labetalol group; received 0.
Introduction: COVID-19 severity and mortality predictors could determine admission criteria and reduce mortality. We aimed to evaluate the clinical-laboratory features of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 to develop a novel score of severity and mortality.
Methodology: This retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from patients with COVID-19 who were admitted to five Egyptian university hospitals.
Background And Study Aims: Currently, there is no therapy approved for COVID-19. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of sofosbuvir/ledipasvir and nitazoxanide for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 infection.
Patients And Methods: A multicenter, open-label randomized controlled trial included one hundred and ninety patients with non-severe COVID-19 infection.
Background: Video laryngoscopes are approved equipment for difficult airway intubations. The borescope, which was introduced during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) era, is placed over a direct laryngoscope blade to provide an economical video laryngoscope. In the current study, we investigated the use of an endotracheal tube mounted over a USB borescope versus a video laryngoscope in patients with suspected difficult airways.

In Egypt and most developing countries, the lack of recent epidemiological and prognostic data adversely affects management strategies. We collected and analyzed data of patients with IBD from multiple centers across Egypt to evaluate patients' clinical and epidemiological characteristics.

Aim: To study liver and gastrointestinal dysfunctions in Egyptian patients with COVID-19 and their relation to disease outcomes.
Purpose: To evaluate the ocular manifestations of post-acute COVID-19 syndrome.
Methods: A retrospective, comparative study included 100 patients who had recovered from COVID-19 and 100 controls who were recruited by stratified randomization from hospital registration system and analyzed regarding history, full ophthalmological examination, general examination including internal medicine and neurological evaluation. Laboratory tests were done.
