Application of core functions and forms in complex health intervention research: a scoping review protocol.

Introduction: The ability of healthcare, community and public health systems to effectively implement and disseminate research innovations depends on contextual factors at multiple interconnected levels of influence (eg, the innovation, individual, provider/implementor, organisation and health system). Recently, there has been an increase in the development of complex interventions designed to target multiple levels, designed for or adapted to the context in which they are delivered. Two concepts from complex systems thinking have been increasingly used to operationalise such interventions-core functions (theory and evidence-driven purposes of interventions) and forms (adaptable activities that perform each core function).

Whilst chatbots for mental health are becoming increasingly prevalent, research on user experiences and expectations is relatively scarce and also equivocal on their acceptability and utility. This paper asks how people formulate their understandings of what might be appropriate in this space. We draw on data from a group of non-users who have experienced a need for support, and so can imagine self as therapeutic target-enabling us to tap into their imaginative speculations of the self in relation to the chatbot other and the forms of agency they see as being at play; unconstrained by a specific actual chatbot.

As cannabis use is rising and federal restrictions are easing, it is important to recognize its potential adverse cardiovascular effects for better risk stratification and informed guidance. We conducted a retrospective study using the National Inpatient Sample database from 2016 to 2019, where 39,992 subjects were enrolled. The extracted population was classified into two groups based on the presence of cannabis-related disorders.

Background: Real-world health-related quality of life (HRQoL) data in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) are scarce. This study is to compare patient-reported outcomes in patients with DLBCL across therapy lines and countries.

Methods: Data were derived from the Adelphi DLBCL Disease Specific Programme™ from January 2021 to May 2021, a survey of physicians and their DLBCL patients in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US).

Effectiveness of Gabapentin as a Benzodiazepine-Sparing Agent in Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome.

Gabapentin has shown promise as a potential agent for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of gabapentin as a benzodiazepine-sparing agent in patients undergoing alcohol withdrawal treatment in all the hospitals of a large tertiary healthcare system. Medical records of patients admitted to the hospital for alcohol withdrawal management between 1 January 2020 and 31 August 2022 were reviewed.

Methods: The Adelphi Real World IBD Disease Specific Programme was a multinational, cross-sectional survey with retrospective collection of patient- and physician-reported data on disease burden and management.

Evaluation of a human papillomavirus vaccination training implementation in clinical and community settings across different clinical roles.

Improving human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is a national priority but uptake declined following the coronavirus pandemic. A strong predictor of HPV vaccination in the USA is a strong provider recommendation. Therefore, we developed a brief, asynchronous training on HPV vaccine recommendations in clinical and community settings as part of a multisite quality improvement initiative.

Effectiveness of provider communication training for increasing human papillomavirus vaccine initiation at a safety-net health system.

Background: Strong provider recommendation can increase uptake of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. Therefore, we developed and implemented a provider education intervention on communication strategies for recommending HPV vaccination with clinic-level audit and feedback (HPV: Communicating about HPV to Adults and Teens [HPV CHAT]). We aimed to evaluate the effect of HPV CHAT on HPV vaccine uptake in seven family medicine and pediatric clinics in a large urban health system (USA).

Risk-management decision-making data from a community-based sample of racially diverse women at high risk of breast cancer: rationale, methods, and sample characteristics of the Daughter Sister Mother Project survey.

Background: To understand the dynamics that limit use of risk-management options by women at high risk of breast cancer, there is a critical need for research that focuses on patient perspectives. Prior research has left important gaps: exclusion of high-risk women not in risk-related clinical care, exclusion of non-white populations, and lack of attention to the decision-making processes that underlie risk-management choices. Day one core competencies in veterinary dentistry.

This article describes the core competencies recommended for inclusion in the veterinary curriculum for all veterinary graduates based on the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges Competency-Based Veterinary Education document. General practice companion animal veterinarians are frequently presented with patients having dental, oral, or maxillofacial pathology, and veterinary graduates will be relied upon for recommendations for the maintenance of oral health, including the prevention of periodontal disease, identification of endodontic disease, and knowledge of developmental defects. These recommendations should be made for all veterinary patients starting at a young age.

We care but we're not carers: perceptions and experiences of social prescribing in a UK national community organisation.

Aims: (1) To explore how social prescribing referrals impact experiences of existing members of a voluntary and community-based organisation and (2) to describe the processes and relationships associated with joining community and voluntary organisations.

Methods: Online survey and qualitative interviews with members of Men's Sheds, a global volunteer-led initiative to address loneliness and social isolation in men. 93 self-selecting Shed members (average age 67 years, 93% male) from across England and Scotland took part in the survey about demographics, joining the Shed, and free-text questions about experiences in the Shed.

Survival After Implementation of a Decision Support Tool to Facilitate Evidence-Based Cancer Treatment.

Purpose: Decision support tools (DSTs) to facilitate evidence-based cancer treatment are increasingly common in care delivery organizations. Implementation of these tools may improve process outcomes, but little is known about effects on patient outcomes such as survival. We aimed to evaluate the effect of implementing a DST for cancer treatment on overall survival (OS) among patients with breast, colorectal, and lung cancer.

Racial differences in prevention decision making among U.S. women at high risk of breast cancer: A qualitative study.

Purpose: Women at high risk of breast cancer face complex decisions about how to manage those risks. Substantial gaps in current knowledge include how women make these decisions and how decision making may differ across sub-populations. Among these critical gaps are the questions of (a) whether racial differences exist between the experiences of high-risk women navigating breast cancer risk, and (b) what consequences those racial differences might have on women's ability to manage their cancer risks.

Purpose: Evidence of cardiotoxicity risk related to anthracycline or trastuzumab exposure is largely derived from breast cancer cohorts that under-represent socioeconomically marginalized women, who may be at increased risk of cardiotoxicity because of high prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors. Therefore, we aimed to estimate cardiotoxicity risk among socioeconomically marginalized breast cancer patients treated with anthracyclines or trastuzumab and describe clinical consequences of cardiotoxicity.

Objectives: Significant research has shown that health is a heterogeneous concept, and one person's poor health may not be comparable with another's. Yet, little consideration has been given to whether sleep quality judgments are also heterogeneous or whether they cohere between individuals. Another possibility is that there are group differences in the ways in which sleep quality is perceived.
