Incorporation of Smooth Muscle Cells Derived from Human Adipose Stem Cells on Poly(Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid) Scaffold for the Reconstruction of Subtotally Resected Urinary Bladder in Athymic Rats.

Background: The urinary tract can be affected by both congenital abnormalities as well as acquired disorders, such as cancer, trauma, infection, inflammation, and iatrogenic injuries, all of which may lead to organ damage requiring eventual reconstruction. As a gold standard, gastrointestinal segment is used for urinary bladder reconstruction. However, one major problem is that while bladder tissue prevents reabsorption of specific solutes, gastrointestinal tissue actually absorbs them.

Giant Urethral Calculus without Acute Urinary Retention.

A 46-year gentleman presented with a left-sided lumbar region pain without fever or dysuria. He denied episodes of acute urinary retention. There was a hard mass at the distal urethra with normal laboratory blood tests.

Predicting outcome of trial of voiding without catheter in acute urinary retention with intravesical prostatic protrusion.

Background: Acute urinary retention (AUR) is one of the most serious complications of benign prostatic hypertrophy. This study was done to predict the outcome of trial of voiding without catheter (TWOC) in patients with AUR with intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) detected on transabdominal ultrasound. Other factors such as prostatic volume and patient's age were also assessed.

Anxiety Status and its Relationship with General Health Related Quality of Life among Prostate Cancer Patients in Two University Hospitals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Background: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of anxiety among prostate cancer patients, and to ascertain the association between stress status, socio-demographic, medical and surgical illness, current urinary problem and cancer status with general health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among these patients.

Methods: A hospital based, cross sectional study was conducted at Surgical Clinic, University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) using universal sampling.

Result: A total of 193 patients were recruited.

Background: Retrograde intra-renal surgery (RIRS) has been used to remove stones of less than 2 cm in the kidney. However, its role is not well defined.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the outcomes and safety of RIRS, used either as a primary or secondary procedure, and to analyze factors predicting the stonefree rate (SFR).
