This work proposes a compact metasurface (MS)-integrated wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna for fifth generation (5G) sub-6 GHz wireless communication systems. In this article, a symmetric split ring resonator (SRR) based metamaterial (MTM) is presented that exhibits three resonances of transmission coefficient (S) covering S, C, and X-bands with epsilon negative (ENG) and near zero index properties. We consider binary suspension of rough, circular particles in two dimensions under athermal conditions. The suspension is subject to a time-independent external drive in response to which half of the particles are pulled along the field direction, whereas the other half is pushed in the opposite direction. This research article presents a design and performance analysis of a metamaterial inspired ultra-high frequency (UHF) compact planar patch antenna for the CubeSat communication system that could be smoothly integrated with commercially available 2U Cube Satellite structure and onboard subsystem.
