Objective: Palmitic acid (PA), the most abundant saturated free fatty acids, induces apoptosis in bovine mammary epithelial cells. It is suggested that oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress are key mechanisms underlying PA-induced cell death.
