Human parechovirus (HPeV) is widely recognized as a severe viral infection affecting infants and neonates. Belonging to the Picornaviridae family, HPeV is categorized into 19 distinct genotypes. Among them, HPeV-1 is the most prevalent genotype, primarily associated with respiratory and digestive symptoms.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly prevalent and deadly brain tumor with high mortality rates, especially among adults. Despite extensive research, the underlying mechanisms driving its progression remain poorly understood. Computational analysis offers a powerful approach to explore potential prognostic biomarkers, drug targets, and therapeutic agents for GBM.

The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, also known as the COVID-19 pandemic, is still a critical risk factor for both human life and the global economy. Although, several promising therapies have been introduced in the literature to inhibit SARS-CoV-2, most of them are synthetic drugs that may have some adverse effects on the human body. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to carry out an in-silico investigation into the medicinal properties of L.

Introduction: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) encompasses a group of chronic disorders distinguished by inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Among these, Crohn's Disease (CD) stands out as a complex and impactful condition due to challenges for both diagnosis and management, making it a cynosure of research.

Methods: In CD, there is the predominance of proinflammatory bacteria, including the Adherentinvasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) with virulence-associated metabolic enzyme Propanediol Dehydratase (pduC), which has been identified as a therapeutic target for the management of CD.

is a medicinal plant with numerous potential secondary metabolites showing a significant level of antidiabetic activity. The objective of the current study was to identify potential phytochemicals from the methanolic leaf extract of as therapeutic agents against diabetes mellitus using GC-MS and methods. The GC-MS analysis of the leaf extract revealed a total of 17 phytochemicals.

Owing to the extensive prevalence of resistant bacteria to numerous antibiotic classes, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a well-known hazard to world health. As an alternate approach in the field of antimicrobial drug discovery, repurposing the available medications which are also called antibiotic resistance breakers has been pursued for the treatment of infections with antimicrobial resistance pathogens. In this study, we used Haloperidol, Metformin and Hydroxychloroquine as repurposing drugs in in vitro (Antibacterial Antibiotic Sensitivity Test and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration-MIC) and in vivo (Shigellosis in Swiss albino mice) tests in combination with traditional antibiotics (Oxytetracycline, Erythromycin, Doxycycline, Gentamicin, Ampicillin, Chloramphenicol, and Penicillin) against a group of AMR resistance bacteria (Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Shigella boydii).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the potential of phytochemicals to inhibit the SarA protein, which plays a role in the link between multidrug-resistant bacteria and skin cancer conditions like actinic keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma.
  • Molecular docking showed that compounds CID:5280441, CID:162350, and CID:5281675 had high affinity for SarA, with significant binding energies and stability during simulations.
  • Three selected compounds, Vitexin, Isovitexin, and Orientin, demonstrated strong inhibitory effects against the targeted pathway, suggesting their potential as natural treatments for skin cancer associated with antibiotic-resistant infections.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a serious threat to the global health care system and is brought on by a series of factors that cause neuronal dysfunction and impairment in memory and cognitive decline. This study investigated the therapeutic potential of phytochemicals that belong to the ten regularly used spice plants, based on their binding affinity with AD-associated proteins. Comprehensive docking studies were performed using AutoDock Vina in PyRx followed by molecular dynamic (MD) simulations using AMBER 14.

Article Synopsis
  • Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a blood cancer resulting from abnormal stem cell behavior in bone marrow, with unclear genetic markers and mechanisms affecting prognosis.
  • The study utilized bioinformatics to analyze RNA-Seq datasets to find differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to AML, discovering 238 DEGs linked to disease progression and associated pathways like inflammatory responses and T-cell receptor signaling.
  • Molecular docking simulations identified four FDA-approved drugs, with enasidenib and gilteritinib emerging as top candidates for AML treatment based on their binding stability and performance.

Highly transmissive and rapidly evolving Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), a viral disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), triggered a global pandemic, which is one of the most researched viruses in the academia. Effective drugs to treat people with COVID-19 have yet to be developed to reduce mortality and transmission. Studies on the SARS-CoV-2 virus identified that its main protease (M) might be a potential therapeutic target for drug development, as this enzyme plays a key role in viral replication.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers with a high mortality rate. Early diagnosis and therapies for CRC may reduce the mortality rate. However, so far, no researchers have yet investigated core genes (CGs) rigorously for early diagnosis, prognosis, and therapies of CRC.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death globally. So, identification of potential molecular signatures is required for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapies of PC. In this study, we detected 71 common differentially expressed genes (cDEGs) between PC and control samples from four microarray gene-expression datasets (GSE15471, GSE16515, GSE71989, and GSE22780) by using robust statistical and machine learning approaches, since microarray gene-expression datasets are often contaminated by outliers due to several steps involved in the data generating processes.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by the infection of highly contagious severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), also known as the novel coronavirus. In most countries, the containment of this virus spread is not controlled, which is driving the pandemic towards a more difficult phase. In this study, we investigated the impact of the Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccination on the severity and mortality of COVID-19 by performing transcriptomic analyses of SARS-CoV-2 infected and BCG vaccinated samples in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC).
