The Outcome of Early Oral Feeding Following Elective Gastrointestinal Surgery.

Background Early oral feeding (EOF) after gastrointestinal (GI) surgery is an optimistic way to speed up recovery and shorten hospital stays, but its full effects remain unexplored. Aim This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of EOF in patients having elective gastrointestinal surgery. Methods This open-level, prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted in the Department of Surgery at Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital, Dhaka, from March 2022 to February 2023.

Assessment of the salt tolerance of diverse bread wheat ( L.) genotypes during the early growth stage under hydroponic culture conditions.

Objectives: Soil salinity affects the growth of crop plants, leading to reduced productivity, and is a major challenge for wheat production worldwide. Various adaptations and mitigation approaches in combination with tolerant wheat genotypes can be useful for the sustainability of crop production in saline environments. However, the development of salt-tolerant wheat genotypes is one of the best and most efficient solutions for obtaining desirable yields.

Status of radon exposure in Bangladeshi locations and dwellings.

Potentially higher cancer risk due to exposure from natural background radiation was indicated for the Bangladeshi population by estimations based on the countrywide study. Several regions with elevated natural background exhibited higher soil radium and thorium contents than the world average. Being the decay products of these radioactive elements, natural radon isotopes could constitute environmental risk factors for internal radiation exposure to the lungs of people living in these areas.

Effects of Storage Time and Pre-Etching Treatment of CR-39 Detectors on Their Response to Alpha Radiation Exposure.

Radon passive monitors based on solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTD), especially CR-39, are widely used in radon and thoron studies. They may be subjected to the influence of external factors, like changing of temperature, humidity, and pressure, both before and during the measurement. Evaluation of the exposed detectors involves chemical processing, whose conditions also influence the measurement results.

Heavy metal toxicity from the leather industry in Bangladesh: a case study of human exposure in Dhaka industrial area.

Activities in the Bangladeshi leather industries have the potential to cause chemical pollutions thereby deteriorating the working environments, the surrounding residential areas, or even foodstuffs. Therefore, it is important to determine the chemical exposures among the industry workers and residents of the surrounding areas who may be directly or indirectly impacted by the contaminated environment. This study focused on evaluating the hazard arising from exposure to metals due to industrial contamination.

DEVELOPMENT OF A PELTIER TYPE CLOUD CHAMBER WITH WIDE VIEW FIELD.

Cloud chamber contributes to radiation education by facilitating observation of particle tracks formed by radiation. Peltier-based chamber achieves cooling without the need for dry ice,. we developed a cloud chamber based on peltier thermoelectric modules and has a multilayered heat insulation system to maintain a stable cool environment.
