Due to the presence of ion reservoir, saliva may facilitate enamel remineralization and neutralize pH of acidic beverage leads to prevent enamel demineralization. Saliva substitute/artificial saliva has been developed in subsequent years and may differ in physical properties, function, or pH level from 5.0 to 7.

The spacer block technique is widely used in medial fixed-bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) for osteoarthritis (OA) and osteonecrosis (ON), while it is still unclear if there is any difference in the extension gap between UKAs for the two conditions. To clarify the question, the data from 87 consecutive patients (OA: 57 patients and ON: 30 patients) who underwent medial fixed-bearing UKA with the spacer block technique were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The component gap between the medial tibial osteotomy surface and the femoral trial prosthesis in extension was measured using a UKA tensor, and the preosteotomy gap was calculated in each condition.

We exploit the aggregation between oppositely charged particles to visualize and quantify the equilibrium position of charged colloidal particles at the fluid-water interface. A dispersion of commercially available charge-stabilized nanoparticles was used as the aqueous phase to create oil-water and air-water interfaces. The colloidal particles whose charge was opposite that of the nanoparticles in the aqueous phase were deposited at the chosen fluid-water interface.

Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) is clinically defined as myocardial infarction in the absence of obstructive atherosclerosis on coronary angiography. Diagnosis may require multiple diagnostic tools in addition to standard coronary angiography, including cardiac imaging or provocative tests, according to clinical suspicion. We assessed the usefulness of the DETERMINE (Defibrillators to Reduce Risk by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Evaluation) score for distinguishing patients with MINOCA from those with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction with obstructive coronary artery disease (NSTEMI-CAD) in a single-center observational study.

Maternal exposure to di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) decreased the plasma triglyceride in prepartum mice. To identify the fatty acid (FA) species involved and to understand the underlying mechanisms, pregnant Sv/129 wild-type (mPPARα), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α-null (Pparα-null) and humanized PPARα (hPPARα) mice were treated with diets containing 0%, 0.01%, 0.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a novel growing family of endogenous, small, non- coding, single-stranded RNA molecules directly involved in regulating gene expression at the posttranscriptional level. High conservation of miRNAs in plant provides the foundation for identification of new miRNAs in other plant species through homology alignment. Here, previous known plant miRNAs were BLASTed against the Expressed Sequence Tag (EST) database of Raphanus sativus, and according to a series of filtering criteria, a total of 48 miRNAs belonging to 9 miRNA families were identified, and 16 potential target genes of them were subsequently predicted, most of which seemed to encode transcription factors or enzymes participating in regulation of development, growth and other physiological processes.
