Introduction: An increasing number of studies have demonstrated that acupuncture can influence Autonomic Nervous System functions. Heart Rate variability (HRV) is one widely used marker of autonomic activity. The main objective of this systematic review is to critically assess the evidence from randomized clinical trials (RCTs) regarding the effect of acupuncture on HRV as compared to placebo methods.

Embryo transfer (ET) is considered as a critical step in the process of in vitro fertilization. Interestingly, studies have consistently shown significant outcome differences between physicians. Although the outcome of ET is not related to the physician's experience and specifically not different between fellows and attending physicians, certain techniques have been found to affect the success rate.

The use of online health communities (OHCs) for health information, disease self-management, and social support increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are limited data on the willingness of African American women (AAW) to participate in OHCs. A sample of 985 AAW completed an online survey.

The objective of this study was to evaluate prevalence of chronic endometritis in a cohort of patients with retained pregnancy tissue (RPT) following miscarriage, with and without a history of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). In a cohort of our single academic fertility centre, we evaluated women with unexplained RPL (two or more losses) without evidence of RPT and women undergoing hysteroscopic resection of RPT following miscarriage. Endometrial samples underwent staining with H and E and CD138.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at how a mother's weight (BMI) might be linked to having repeated miscarriages.
  • Researchers reviewed a lot of studies and data from over 3,800 women who had experienced repeated miscarriages and compared them to over 4,000 women who hadn't.
  • The results showed that women with a history of miscarriages generally had a higher BMI than those who didn't, suggesting that weight could be a factor in pregnancy issues.

Background: The high rate of obesity, ownership of smartphones, and online search for nutrition and dieting information among African American women (AAW) provide a unique opportunity to develop cost-effective, accessible, and acceptable mHealth weight management programs for them. Furthermore, they should participate in the development and evaluation of these programs.

Objective: To explore ideal components of a culturally relevant mHealth weight management program for AAW and to examine how these components may vary by age group.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on using a special DNA test to see if ectopic pregnancies (when a pregnancy happens outside the uterus) have extra or missing chromosomes (aneuploidy).* -
  • Researchers looked at tissues from women who had surgery for ectopic pregnancies and found that the DNA in the samples was normal (euploid), meaning they didn't have those extra or missing chromosomes.* -
  • Although the results were good, the scientists say more research is needed to understand why ectopic pregnancies happen and if this DNA test can be used more widely in the future.*

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the perspectives of infertility patients regarding genetic carrier screening, embryo sex selection, embryo research, and gene editing.

Methods: An anonymous 32-question survey was distributed electronically to all patients who seen at a single academic fertility center for at least one visit between June 2018 and September 2019. Survey questions evaluated patient perspectives on genetic carrier screening, embryo sex selection, embryo research, and gene editing.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are trying to figure out how to diagnose a condition called chronic endometritis and see if it happens more in women who have many pregnancy losses compared to those who don’t.!
  • They took tissue samples from women who had experienced repeated pregnancy losses and from women without that history to compare the results.!
  • The study found that a lot more women with repeated losses had signs of chronic endometritis, suggesting that this condition might be linked to why they keep losing pregnancies.!

In the current COVID-19 pandemic the active participation of the public is of central importance, however, certain factors found in this new pandemic disease complicates the participation. Addressing these complications needs public health and health promotion experts to understand the role of critical health literacy in a pandemic. We present the case for a definition of critical health literacy in a pandemic, CHL-P.

We report findings on abdominal imaging in critically ill children admitted with MIS-C. On sonography, hepatomegaly, nephromegaly, gallbladder wall edema, ascites, intestinal inflammation and mesenteric lymphadenopathy were seen, while CT showed fluid-filled small bowel loops, mural thickening of the terminal ileum, diffuse lymphadenopathy, and moderate ascites.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers conducted an observational study involving 115 women, analyzing the gestational age (GA) based on LH surge, LMP, and the first measurable crown-rump length (CRL).
  • * Results indicated that the LH surge correlated better with CRL, suggesting it's a more reliable method for early pregnancy dating than the LMP.
