Objective: To execute a large-scale, decentralized, clinical-grade whole exome sequencing study, coined Tapestry, for clinical practice, research discovery, and genomic education.

Patients And Methods: Between July 1, 2020, and May 31, 2024, we invited 1,287,608 adult Mayo Clinic patients to participate in Tapestry. Of those contacted, 114,673 patients were consented and 98,222 (65.

In classical fluids, the Weber number is a dimensionless parameter that characterizes the flow of a multiphase fluid. The superfluid analogy of a classical multiphase fluid can be realized in a system of two or more immiscible Bose-Einstein condensates. These superfluid mixtures have been shown to display a wider variety of exotic dynamics than their single component counterparts.

Solitons, the distinct balance between nonlinearity and dispersion, provide a route toward ultrafast electromagnetic pulse shaping, high-harmonic generation, real-time image processing, and RF photonic communications. Here we uniquely explore and observe the spatio-temporal breather dynamics of optical soliton crystals in frequency microcombs, examining spatial breathers, chaos transitions, and dynamical deterministic switching - in nonlinear measurements and theory. To understand the breather solitons, we describe their dynamical routes and two example transitional maps of the ensemble spatial breathers, with and without chaos initiation.

Article Synopsis
  • Some people with dementia and their families prefer to stay at home as they feel it's the best care, but this isn't the same for everyone.
  • A study with interviews found that many families avoid moving to care facilities until it's absolutely necessary, often because of fear or guilt.
  • It's important for care programs to consider all the reasons families make decisions about where to live and to help them understand their options better.

The One Health concept focuses on the interconnections between human health, animal health, and the environment, stressing the need for interdisciplinary collaborations to address complex issues such as the health challenges posed by climate change and global pandemics. One Health is a central part of the curriculum of veterinary schools, however, it is rarely incorporated into medical school education. Nationally, there are limited examples of formal One Health education and training for medical students.

The recent advent of quantum computing has the potential to overhaul security, communications, and scientific modeling. Superconducting qubits are a leading platform that is advancing noise-tolerant intermediate-scale quantum processors. The implementation requires scaling to large numbers of superconducting qubits, circuit depths, and gate speeds, wherein high-purity RF signal generation and effective cabling transport are desirable.

As the COVID-19 pandemic impacted mental health, this longitudinal study examined the effect of age-friendly communities (AFC) action plan on older adults' depressive symptoms. Using the CLSA, the CLSA COVID-19 Questionnaire study, survey of Canadian municipalities, and the census, the depressive symptoms trajectories were modeled with multilevel multinomial regressions. Most respondents (66.

Article Synopsis
  • The increasing prevalence of neurocognitive disorders (NCDs), such as mild cognitive impairment and dementia, highlights the urgent need for global prevention strategies.
  • An umbrella review synthesized findings from 45 reviews and 212 meta-analyses, identifying 14 modifiable risk factors linked to NCDs, including alcohol consumption, depression, and physical inactivity.
  • The study emphasizes the need for targeted prevention efforts that address these risk factors to reduce the incidence and severity of NCDs, particularly noting gaps in research related to vascular dementia and mild NCD.

Background: Although HIV-related deaths among people with HIV have dramatically decreased, deaths from other medical conditions and non-medical events have increased. The location of death among people with HIV remains underreported.

Objectives: We reviewed the deaths, causes of death, and reported location of death (i.

Unlabelled: Conceptual frameworks are vital for identifying relevant components, dimensions and indicators to assess vulnerability to natural hazards and climatic change. Given the fact that vulnerability is applied and used in various disciplines and by multiple schools of thought, several conceptual frameworks to assess and conceptualise vulnerability have been developed. Even though these frameworks have been widely cited in research, the range and context of application and contextual use of such frameworks have rarely been explored.

Objectives: Determine whether levels of anxiety and depression, cognitive ability, and self-quarantining during and prior to the pandemic predict decreases in perceived functional ability.

Design And Setting: Longitudinal data collected from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) COVID-19 Questionnaire Study (2020) and core CLSA study (Follow-Up 1; 2014-2018).

Participants: 17 541 CLSA participants.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic required implementation of public health measures to reduce the spread of SARS CoV-2. This resulted in social isolation and loneliness for many older adults. Loneliness and social isolation are associated with cognitive decline, however, the impact of this during COVID-19 has not been fully characterized.

People with HIV (PWH) are at increased risk of COVID-19 infection. Both Canadian (NACI) and US (CDC) guidelines recommend that all PWH receive at least 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and a booster. We examined vaccination uptake among PWH in Southern Alberta, Canada.

Article Synopsis
  • The Canadian HIV and Aging Cohort Study (CHACS) aims to gather baseline characteristics of participants and has extended its research efforts to 2024, with new assessments being added to the protocol.
  • A total of 1,049 participants were recruited, primarily consisting of older males living with HIV, who showed significant socio-economic and health differences compared to non-HIV participants.
  • The study's updated protocol aims to provide deeper insights into the aging process for HIV-positive individuals, emphasizing the need to consider socio-economic and cardiovascular factors in future analyses.

Objective: Previous studies on side-alternating vibration therapy (sVT) have usually used a 9 min intervention protocol. We performed a feasibility study aimed at assessing the safety, acceptability, and potential effectiveness of a longer sVT protocol (15 min per session) in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy (CP).

Methods: Fifteen participants aged 5.
