Objective: To analyse the evidence of the effectiveness of long-acting injection buprenorphine (LAI-B) in the management of opioid use disorder (OUD).
Method: Databases were searched for studies reporting on the effectiveness of LAI-B for the treatment of OUD. Risk of bias was assessed, and a narrative synthesis of data was presented.
Background: Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, has caused many recent overdose deaths. Diagnosis of fentanyl abuse is not served by traditional opiate assays due to differences in chemical structure between synthetics and natural opioids. To our knowledge, this is the first study that uses liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) as the reference method to evaluate and compare the ARK Fentanyl II Assay (ARK II) and the Fentanyl II Enzyme Immunoassay by Roche (FEN2).

Background: The adoption of LC-MS/MS laboratory developed tests in the clinical laboratory is limited by many factors including the lack of automation. Recently, the Cascadion™ clinical analyzer was introduced as a fully automated random-access LC-MS/MS platform. We show that this approach offers a sensitive diagnostic to address blood biochemistry at the cellular level. Mutation to a glycine at this position enables the reconstitution of the T1 center by the addition of imidazole as exogenous ligands, however the catalytic activity is only marginally rescued.
