The carotid web is a rare fibromuscular dysplasia disease of the internal carotid artery wall. It is a cause of thromboembolic stroke in a demographic of patients generally younger than those with atherosclerotic carotid artery disease. It is easy to miss the diagnosis without a high index of suspicion.

Bullous lung disease in pregnancy: a case report.

Bullous lung disease presenting as a pneumothorax in pregnancy has not been reported in the literature to date. We present the case of a woman in her third pregnancy presenting to routine antenatal clinic with a secondary spontaneous pneumothorax in the third trimester. We describe the multidisciplinary approach to her management with obstetrics, obstetric anaesthesiology, cardiothoracic surgery and midwifery.

Objective: While non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has been widely adopted throughout Europe, Australia, and the USA, population level access to NIPT varies considerably. Ireland has no national screening programme for fetal anomalies, although NIPT is available from out-of-country providers. We aimed to describe the availability of NIPT in Ireland and the quality of information available online from NIPT providers.

Multiorgan involvement and circulating IgG1 predict hypocomplementaemia in IgG4-related disease.

Objectives: Hypocomplementaemia is common in patients with IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD). We aimed to determine the IgG4-RD features associated with hypocomplementaemia and investigate mechanisms of complement activation in this disease.

Methods: We performed a single-centre cross-sectional study of 279 patients who fulfilled the IgG4-RD classification criteria, using unadjusted and multivariable-adjusted logistic regression to identify factors associated with hypocomplementaemia.

The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), the regulatory agency for health professions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), sought to evolve the continuing professional development (CPD) ecosystem for the country and to promote the concept of life-long learning for healthcare professionals. SCFHS audited its own CPD accreditation system, reviewed internationally recognised CPD accreditation criteria, adopted a new set of standards, and trained its staff and provider community in their adoption. SCFHS also deployed a range of programmes and grants to support healthcare educators and researchers engaged in CPD.

Observations: Despite extensive clinical experience, evidence of competence, and willingness to practice in underserved communities, IMGs experience multiple barriers to entry in the US, including the immigration process, the pathways available for certification and licensing, and institutional reluctance to consider non-US-trained candidates.
