Background: As the healthcare of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) shifts toward community-based services, physicians in all areas of medicine are more likely to care for this population. To ensure that all physicians can provide high-quality care to people with IDD, further understanding and attention to undergraduate medical education related to IDD is needed.
Methods: A 24-item survey assessed the experiences, attitudes, knowledge, skills, and future interest of Canadian medical students regarding IDD.
Background: Burnout in health care workers (HCWs) has serious ramifications for individual well-being, patients, organizations, and health systems. Global evidence demonstrates the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the risk of burnout. Scalable interventions to address burnout are critical to protect HCW well-being.

Marine protected areas (MPAs) aim to mitigate these threats, but inadequate funding and management hinder effective conservation. Seagrass-associated tourism presents an opportunity to fund conservation efforts, enhance MPA implementation, and improve local livelihoods.

Background: The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention discourage formula hacking (ie, preparing formula not according to directions to extend its use) and making homemade infant formula due to its associated health risks. Yet, caregivers are using social media platforms to find information on these topics.
Aims: This study aims to evaluate the cost effectiveness of genetic and genomic testing strategies for the diagnosis of rare developmental disorders in NHS Scotland.
Methods: Six genetic and genomic testing strategies were evaluated using a decision tree model. First-line, second-line and last-resort trio genome sequencing (GS), and second-line and last-resort trio exome sequencing (ES) were compared with standard genetic testing.
Background And Purpose: Magnetic resonance (MR)-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) enhances treatment precision and adaptive capabilities, potentially supporting a simulation-free (sim-free) workflow. This work reports the first clinical implementation of a sim-free workflow using the MR-Linac for prostate cancer patients treated with stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR).
Materials And Methods: Fifteen patients who had undergone a prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/CT (PSMA-PET/CT) scan as part of diagnostic workup were included in this work.

Background: Per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a class of environmentally and biologically persistent chemicals, have been used across many industries since the middle of the 20 century. Some PFAS have been linked to adverse health effects.
Objective: Our objective was to incorporate known and potential PFAS sources, physical characteristics of the environment, and existing PFAS water sampling results into a PFAS risk prediction map that may be used to develop a PFAS water sampling prioritization plan for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
The western United States is home to most of the nation's oil and gas production and, increasingly, wildfires. We examined historical threats of wildfires for oil and gas wells, the extent to which wildfires are projected to threaten wells as climate change progresses, and exposure of human populations to these wells. From 1984-2019, we found that cumulatively 102,882 wells were located in wildfire burn areas, and 348,853 people were exposed (resided ≤ 1 km).

Methods: We evaluated AF exacerbation risk and proximity to O&G well site development by employing a novel data source and interrupted time-series design. We retrospectively followed 1,197 AF patients living within 1-mile of an O&G well site (at-risk of exposure) and 9,764 patients living >2 miles from any O&G well site (unexposed) for AF claims in Colorado's All Payer Claims Dataset before, during, and after O&G well site development.
Introduction: Risk factors for developing osteoradionecrosis (ORN) are well known, but less is known about factors influencing the interval between radiotherapy and the onset of ORN. Also, it is unknown whether there is any specific period post-radiotherapy with a reduced probability of ORN when irradiated teeth require extraction.
Purpose: The primary aim of this study was to identify factors influencing the interval in developing ORN in the following subgroups of patients: (1) patients who spontaneously developed ORN, (2) surgical-intervention-related ORN with a particular focus on patients after mandibulectomy.
Objectives: Mock embryo transfer (ET) before in vitro fertilization (IVF) allows for the clinical determination of uterine cavity length (UCL) to optimize embryo placement during clinical ET. Most studies have shown that optimal pregnancy rates occur with clinical ET at a depth of 15 mm from the uterine fundus. In our study, we sought to determine the effect of ovarian stimulation and endometrial preparation on UCL using 2D transabdominal ultrasound.

Methods: Surveys and focus groups were conducted from November 2022 and March 2023 with United States-based English-speaking mothers of infants <6 months of age recruited via social media and who reported a nonrecommended sleep position and/or location ≥2 times the prior week.
Results: Twenty-five mothers participated in focus groups and surveys.
Background: Researchers have used commercial databases containing residential addresses to reduce exposure misclassification in case-control studies. Our objective is to evaluate the potential systematic bias regarding case status when reconstructing residential locations from commercial databases.
Methods: Our study population of 3640 Colorado-born children includes 520 children diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia between 2002 and 2019.
Background: Delays in treating anaesthesia-induced malignant hyperthermia increase risks of complications and death. NPJ5008 is a novel formulation of the indicated treatment, dantrolene sodium, developed to shorten preparation and administration times compared with the reference formulation Dantrium®. The two formulations have been compared preclinically.

We found that the spatial scale of the analysis influences the magnitude of NO, but not PM, attributable deaths. Using county-level predictions instead of 1 km predictions of NO resulted in a lower estimate of mortality attributable to NO by ∼ 50 % for all of Colorado for each year between 2000 and 2020.

We conducted a retrospective cohort study of reproductive age women who underwent dose-dense chemotherapy regimens with doxorubicin hydrochloride and cyclophosphamide with or without paclitaxel for a new diagnosis of breast cancer. We compared pre- and post-treatment serum antimullerian hormone (AMH) levels and assessed changes in AMH over time.

The nomenclatures used to describe HLA and killer-cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) alleles distinguish unique nucleotide and peptide sequences, and patterns of expression, but are insufficient for describing genotyping results, as description of ambiguities and relations across loci require terminology beyond allele names. The genotype list (GL) String grammar describes genotyping results for genetic systems with defined nomenclatures, like HLA and KIR, documenting what is known and unknown about a given genotyping result. However, the accuracy of a GL String is dependent on the reference database version under which it was generated.

Virtual reality (VR) technology offers an innovative tool that may improve concussion symptom recognition and reporting behaviors among preteen athletes.
Objective: We aimed to describe the design and development of a VR concussion education app, Make Play Safe (MPS), and present findings on the usability and preliminary efficacy of MPS in improving concussion recognition and reporting intentions among soccer athletes aged 9-12 years.
