Article Synopsis
  • * In research using mice, SCD was found to enhance vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels) through the alpha-1 adrenergic receptor, particularly by increasing the expression of the alpha-1a receptor in the aortic tissue of SCD mice compared to controls.
  • * Treatment with ambrisentan, an ETA receptor blocker, improved blood vessel function in both mice and SCD patients, suggesting that targeting the ET-1 pathway could help improve vascular health in individuals with

The recently discovered HAPSTR1 protein broadly oversees cellular stress responses. This function requires HUWE1, a ubiquitin ligase that paradoxically marks HAPSTR1 for degradation, but much about this pathway remains unclear. Here, leveraging multiplexed proteomics, we find that HAPSTR1 enables nuclear localization of HUWE1 with implications for nuclear protein quality control.

Timing of food intake has become a critical factor in determining overall cardiometabolic health. We hypothesized that timing of food intake entrains circadian rhythms of blood pressure (BP) and renal excretion in mice. Male C57BL/6J mice were fed ad libitum or reverse feeding (RF) where food was available at all times of day or only available during the 12-h lights-on period, respectively.
