Generation and control of topological spin textures constitutes one of the most exciting challenges of modern spintronics given their potential applications in information storage technologies. Of particular interest are magnetic insulators, which due to low damping, absence of Joule heating and reduced dissipation can provide energy-efficient spin-textures platform. Here, it is demonstrated that the interplay between sample thickness, external magnetic fields, and optical excitations can generate a prolific paramount of spin textures, and their coexistence in insulating CrBr van der Waals (vdW) ferromagnets.

These include Curie temperatures above room temperature, and topological spin textures─TST (both merons and skyrmions), responsible for a pronounced anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and its topological counterpart (THE), which can be harvested for spintronics. Here, we show that both the AHE and THE can be amplified considerably by just adjusting the thickness of exfoliated FeGeTe, with THE becoming observable even in zero magnetic field due to a field-induced unbalance in topological charges.

The development of flexible and lightweight electromagnetic interference (EMI)-shielding materials and microwave absorbers requires precise control and optimization of core-shell constituents within composite materials. Here, a theoretical model is proposed to predict the static and dynamic properties of multilayered core-shell particles comprised of exchange-coupled layers, as in the case of a spherical iron core coupled to an oxide shell across a spacer layer. Here we present the first time-resolved x-ray measurements using this technique and investigate the structure and dynamics of the domain walls after excitation with nanosecond pulsed magnetic fields. It is shown that the average magnetisation of the domain walls has a perpendicular component that can change dynamically depending on the parameters of the pulsed excitation.

In this paper we report the design and biophysical evaluation of novel rigid-core symmetric and asymmetric dicationic DNA binders containing 9H-fluorene and 9,10-dihydroanthracene cores as well as the synthesis of one of these fluorene derivatives. First, the affinity toward particular DNA sequences of these compounds and flexible core derivatives was evaluated by means of surface plasmon resonance and thermal denaturation experiments finding that the position of the cations significantly influence the binding strength. Then their affinity and mode of binding were further studied by performing circular dichroism and UV studies and the results obtained were rationalized by means of DFT calculations.

Background: African Americans are less likely than non-Hispanic Whites to find antidepressants acceptable or seek care for depression.
Objective: To develop and pilot test a culturally tailored, community-based, psychoeducational wellness and exercise promotion program to reduce depressive symptoms in African Americans.
Methods: Participants were African Americans with moderate depressive symptoms who were interested in exercise but were not exercising regularly.
Considering the strong DNA minor groove binding observed for our previous series of diaromatic symmetric and asymmetric guanidinium and 2-aminoimidazolinium derivatives, we report now the synthesis of new aminoalkyl derivatives of diaromatic guanidines with potential as DNA minor groove binders and antiprotozoal activity. The preparation of these aminoalkyl derivatives (12a-e, 13a-e, 14a-c,e, 15a-e, 16a-e) is presented as well as their affinity for DNA which was evaluated by means of DNA thermal denaturation experiments. Finally, the antiprotozoal activity of most of these aminoalkyl minor groove binders was evaluated in vitro against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense (8 compounds) and Plasmodium falciparum (18 compounds).

This article uses the Beyond Sabor Project, a CBPR project implemented in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, as a case example to discuss ethical issues such as the importance of increasing community involvement in research, ensuring that communities benefit from the research, sharing leadership roles, and sensitive issues regarding data collection and sharing. Unlabelled: One year after discontinuation of three year's treatment with risedronate, BMD decreased at the lumbar spine and femoral neck and bone turnover markers returned to control group levels.
