Capicua transcriptional repressor (CIC)-rearranged sarcoma (CRS) is a rare and recently described tumor that most commonly affects patients between 15 and 30 years of age. It is an undifferentiated round cell malignancy, with a disease defining CIC fusion, with double homeobox 4 (DUX4) being the most common partner. Here, we report a 77-year-old woman who presented with a cutaneous thigh mass with a clinical morphology suggesting Merkel cell carcinoma.

Previous research has demonstrated the positive associations with parental support with better mental health outcomes in gender-diverse young people. However, less is known about what happens within a family structure if an unsupportive parent or family member leaves the family unit and sees the child only on the condition that they present in a way that conforms to their birth gender. This paper will focus on the first interviews with nine families within the wider sample of 39 families in the LOGIC-Q (Longitudinal Outcomes of Gender Identity in Children - qualitative) study who reported they had experienced rejection by a parent or family member after the young person had disclosed their gender non-conformity.

Each camera is equipped with four absolute extreme ultra-violet diodes, with three of them filtered by Ti and Al foils for C and O line emissions, respectively, and Be foils for temperature measurements. In addition, two spectrometers will be installed with a vertical line of sight for impurity control.

EDHM presents as pruritic, insect-like bites, but without patient-reported contact/bites of insects. We present a case of a 44-year-old male who presented to Elkhorn Dermatology with a scaly rash and serpiginous borders on the nasal tip and right cutaneous upper lip.

Purpose: To assess the accuracy and performance of the Butterfly IQ+ handheld ultrasound (HHUS) in detecting retinal detachments (RDs).
Methods: A cross-sectional observational study of eyes with (n = 20) and without (n = 20) RD imaged using a conventional B-scan ophthalmic ultrasound device Ellex Eye Cubed by Clarion Medical Technologies (Cambridge, ON, CA) and a portable HHUS (Butterfly IQ+). Images were compared between the modalities for qualitative differences.

In Sweden's universal healthcare system, it is unknown whether people of higher socioeconomic status receive higher quality multiple sclerosis (MS) care. Using linked clinical and administrative data, we investigated the quality of care received by 4426 adults aged 23-60 with relapsing-remitting MS. In adjusted analyses, we demonstrated that higher premorbid educational attainment is associated with 4-12 % more frequent neurologist visits and MRI scans in the first four years post diagnosis, while higher premorbid income was associated with faster diagnosis-to-treatment times by 34-64 days.

Here, we discuss 3 severe cases of CS in premature infants born to NA individuals and communities in South Dakota with poor access to prenatal care. The infants in these 3 cases presented with varying clinical conditions, including respiratory failure, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, severe direct hyperbilirubinemia, feeding intolerance, and necrotizing enterocolitis.

Early intervention and prevention of mental ill health are therefore vitally important. However, increased demand over recent years has meant that access to child mental health services is often restricted to those in severest need.

To disclose or conceal MS at work may critically affect individuals' work situation, career opportunities, and health. PwMS may experience a dilemma when assessing if the possible benefits of disclosing the diagnosis outweigh the possible risks.

Labor curves serve as references for expected changes in dilation and fetal descent. The labor curves of Friedman, Zhang et al, and others are based on time alone and derived from mothers with spontaneous labor onset.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Objectives: Clinical onset of multiple sclerosis (MS) after the age of 50 years is uncommon and associated with a less favorable natural history. The differences in long-term outcomes in patients with late-onset MS (LOMS, onset 50 years or older) and adult-onset MS (AOMS, onset 18 years or older and younger than 50 years) during the disease-modifying therapy (DMT) era have been less studied. This study aimed to compare patient characteristics, DMT exposure, and disability progression in Swedish patients with LOMS and AOMS over 2 decades (2001-2022).

To plan resource allocation for this patient group, knowledge of the incidence rate and prevalence is important. However, such studies are scarce, few are population-based, and the methodology varies widely.

Methods: This population-based cohort study included singletons live-born without major malformations in Sweden (n = 2 699 675) and British Columbia (BC), Canada (n = 887 582) during 1990-2019, with follow-up from age 1 year until the outcome, death, emigration or December 2020, whichever came first. The primary exposure was defined as a composite CVD diagnosed prior to conception: cerebrovascular disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, valvular and congenital heart diseases.
Objective: There has been interest in a possible negative association between HIV and multiple sclerosis (MS). We aimed to compare the risk of MS in a cohort of individuals living with HIV to that in the general population.
Methods: Population-based health data were accessed for 2 cohorts of HIV-positive persons from Sweden and British Columbia, Canada.
Importance: Multiple sclerosis (MS) severity may be informed by premorbid sociodemographic factors.
Objective: To determine whether premorbid education, income, and marital status are associated with future MS disability and symptom severity, independent of treatment, in a universal health care context.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This nationwide observational cohort study examined data from the Swedish MS Registry linked to national population registries from 2000 to 2020.
Objective/background: Kidney transplantation is a complex operation that incorporates multiple fundamental surgical techniques and is an excellent opportunity for surgical skill development during residency training. We hypothesized that increasing resident competency, measured as anastomosis time, could be demonstrated while maintaining high-quality surgical outcomes during the learning process.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of surgical resident involvement in kidney transplantation and recorded the anastomosis time.
Background: Population-based studies estimating the epidemiology of paediatric-onset multiple sclerosis (PoMS) are scarce.
Methods: We accessed population-based health administrative data from two provinces in Canada, Ontario and British Columbia (BC). Individuals with PoMS were identified via a validated case definition.
