Introduction: In response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in March 2020 and required adherence to infection control measures and patient and staff safety, an integrated respiratory team (IRT) developed guideline-based templates to support the team in teleconsultation reviews of their patients. Patients had been diagnosed with sleep disordered breathing, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, interstitial lung disease or had oxygen assessment needs.
Methods: Nine IRT members collaboratively developed content for the templates to assist in clinical reviews.

The metal-to-insulator phase transition (MIT) in two-dimensional (2D) materials under the influence of a gating electric field has revealed interesting electronic behavior and the need for a deeper fundamental understanding of electron transport processes, while attracting much interest in the development of next-generation electronic and optoelectronic devices. Although the mechanism of the MIT in 2D semiconductors is a topic under debate in condensed matter physics, our work demonstrates the tunable percolative phase transition in few-layered MoSe field-effect transistors (FETs) using different metallic contact materials. Here, we attempted to understand the MIT through temperature-dependent electronic transport measurements by tuning the carrier density in a MoSe channel under the influence of an applied gate voltage.

At least 95% of skin cancers are caused by overexposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) from the sun, making it a highly preventable cancer.

In Liberia, screening and treatment for anal cancers remain limited, and are exacerbated among vulnerable groups, including men who have sex with men (MSM). Screen‑triage‑treat models for cancerous lesions have been successful in reducing cervical cancer mortality, but the feasibility of this approach has not been studied for anal cancers in a low‑resource context.

However, the exact mechanisms that mediate a successful FMT are not well-understood. Here, we use longitudinal stool samples collected from patients undergoing FMT to evaluate intra-individual changes in the microbiome, metabolome, and lipidome after successful FMTs relative to their baselines pre-FMT.

While novel microbiome therapeutics gain approval, the efficacy of a full-spectrum, oral microbiome therapeutic is unknown. This study aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of CP101, an orally administered microbiome therapeutic, to restore a diverse microbiome and prevent recurrent CDI in a broad population.

We systematically reviewed whether raising the minimum legal sales age of tobacco (MLSA) to 20 or above is associated with reduced prevalence of smoking compared to an MLSA set at 18 or below.

Indoor arenas do not always include mechanical ventilation or stirring fans and occupancy by horses and humans can be sporadic and inconsistent, which creates a challenging space for understanding and predicting variations in temperature, moisture, and airflow. To understand the interior environment within indoor arenas, monitoring was conducted at 15 facilities within 200 kilometres of Lexington, KY. Environmental monitoring of dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, dew point temperature, air speeds, and solar radiation took place over 7 days in the winter and summer to examine temporal variability.

Recent work in a rat model suggests that cortical arousal state changes prior to seizures and that single neurons show diverse firing patterns during seizures. Our aim was to extend these investigations to a mouse model with studies of neuronal activity and arousal state to facilitate future fundamental investigations of absence epilepsy.

Artificial intelligence (AI) products that can interpret mammograms could mitigate this risk. While previous studies have suggested this technology has accuracy comparable to radiologists most have been limited by using 'enriched' datasets and/or not considering the interaction between the algorithm and human readers.

The human fecal metabolome is complex, variable, incompletely annotated, and serves as an ideal matrix to evaluate novel compound identification methods. We devised an experimental strategy for compound annotation using multidimensional chromatography and semiautomated feature alignment and applied these methods to study the fecal metabolome in the context of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for recurrent infection.

There is evidence that prescribed specialised services can exacerbate inequalities even though they are often accessed at the end of complex pathways and by relatively small numbers of people. Leadership is required to facilitate a systematic approach to identifying and addressing inequalities in this area.

While previous bile acid analyses have primarily focused on profiling 5 canonical primary and secondary bile acids and their glycine and taurine amino acid-bile acid (AA-BA) conjugates, recent studies suggest that many other microbial conjugated bile acids (or MCBAs) exist. MCBAs are produced by the gut microbiota and serve as biomarkers, providing information about early disease onset and gut health.

The impact of a magneto-structural phase transition on the carrier effective mass in CuFeS plasmonic semiconductor nanocrystals was examined using Magnetic Circular Dichroism (MCD). Through MCD, the sample was confirmed as p-type from variable temperature studies from 1.8 - 75 K.

Widespread vaccination dramatically reduced cases; however, case counts have been increasing over the past 20 years. To provide a quantitative overview of historical mumps dynamics that can act as baseline information to help identify causes of mumps reemergence, we analyzed timeseries of cases reported from 1923 to 1932 in the United States.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCompound identification is an essential task in the workflow of untargeted metabolomics since the interpretation of the data in a biological context depends on the correct assignment of chemical identities to the features it contains. Current techniques fall short of identifying all or even most observable features in untargeted metabolomics data, even after rigorous data cleaning approaches to remove degenerate features are applied. Hence, new strategies are required to annotate the metabolome more deeply and accurately.
