This paper examines how Australian news media outlets- the , and reported on and at times connected DFV and terrorism, finding that DFV and terrorism were connected in several ways, and that DFV was described as terrorism by several academics, advocates, journalists, and victims.

Nitrate reductases play pivotal roles in nitrogen metabolism by leveraging the molybdopterin cofactor to facilitate the reduction of nitrate to nitrite. Periplasmic nitrate reductases (NapA) utilize nitrate as a terminal electron acceptor when oxygen is limiting, helping to drive anaerobic metabolism in bacteria. Despite extensive research into NapA homologs, open questions about the mechanism remain especially at the molecular level.

Background: It is unknown if textbook outcomes (TBOs) correlate with patient-reported health-related quality of life (HRQoL) parameters in patients undergoing hepatic resection for colorectal liver metastasises. This single-centre analysis aims to assess this correlation and provide insight into the impact of liver resection on patient well-being in this population.

Although the phenomenon of crowding in emergency departments (EDs) is not new, it remains a significant problem for patients, ED staff and the wider healthcare system. Crowding in EDs, which is also called overcrowding, has been widely explored in the literature, but there are relatively few studies of the subject from an emergency nurse perspective. This article reports the findings of a literature review that aimed to explore the effects of crowding on nurses working in EDs.

Active Site Characterization of a Nitrate Reductase Variant Provides Insight into the Enzyme Mechanism.

Mo K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is used to probe the structure of wild-type nitrate reductase NapA and the C176A variant. The results of extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) experiments on NapA support an oxidized Mo(VI) hexacoordinate active site coordinated by a single terminal oxo donor, four sulfur atoms from two separate pyranopterin dithiolene ligands, and an additional S atom from a conserved cysteine amino acid residue. We found no evidence of a terminal sulfido ligand in NapA.

This is a particular issue in South Africa, where it is estimated with evidence provided that up to half of all women will encounter gender-based and/or sexual violence from a partner during their lifetime. Therefore, evidence suggests that addressing the needs of women in South Africa is a priority.

Fleas in the genus Ctenocephalides are the most clinically important parasitic arthropods of dogs and cats worldwide yet risk factors that might increase the risk of infestation in small animals remains unclear. Understanding the deformation gradient in Abaqus and key guidelines for anisotropic hyperelastic user material subroutines (UMATs).

This tutorial paper provides a step-by-step guide to developing a comprehensive understanding of the different forms of the deformation gradient used in Abaqus, and outlines a number of key issues that must be considered when developing an Abaqus user defined material subroutine (UMAT) in which the Cauchy stress is computed from the deformation gradient. Firstly, we examine the "classical" forms of global and local deformation gradients. We then show that Abaqus/Standard does not use the classical form of the local deformation gradient when continuum elements are used, and we highlight the important implications for UMAT development.

The effect of repair techniques on the biomechanics of the aorta is poorly understood, resulting in significant levels of postoperative complications for patients worldwide. This study presents a computational analysis of the influence of Nitinol-based devices on the biomechanical performance of a healthy patient-specific human aorta. Simulations reveal that Nitinol stent-grafts stretch the artery wall so that collagen is stretched to a straightened high-stiffness configuration.

Diffusive uptake rates for passive air sampling: Application to volatile organic compound exposure during FIREX-AQ campaign.

Passive (diffusive) sampling using sorbents is an economical and versatile method of measuring pollutants in air, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Diffusive uptake rates (UTRs) are needed for each analyte to obtain average concentrations during a specific passive sampling time duration. Here, a simultaneous active/diffusive ambient air sampling technique on Tenax®TA was employed to measure 24-hours, 7, 14 and 28-days UTRs of up to 27 VOCs, including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), C6-C12 hydrocarbons, benzenes derivatives, tetrachloroethylene, pinenes and limonene.
