There is a need for reliable models to predict the food web bioaccumulation and assess ecological and human health risks of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This present study presents (i) the development of novel mechanistic aquatic and terrestrial food web bioaccumulation models for PFAS and (ii) an evaluation of model performance using available laboratory and field data. Model predictions of laboratory-measured bioconcentration factors and field-based bioaccumulation factors of PFAS in fish were in good agreement with observed data as measured by the mean model bias (MB), representing systematic over- or under-estimation and the standard deviation of the MB, representing general uncertainty.

The multi-channel magnetic resonance spectroscopy graphical user interface (McMRSGUI) is a MATLAB-based spectroscopy processing GUI equipped to load multi-channel MRS data, pre-process, combine, and export combined data for evaluation with open-source quantification software (jMRUI). A literature-based, decision-tree process was incorporated into the combination type selection to serve as a guide to minimize spectral distortion in selecting between weighting methods.

Epilepsy is a highly prevalent brain condition with many serious complications arising from it. The majority of patients which present to a clinic and undergo electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring would be unlikely to experience seizures during the examination period, thus the presence of interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) become effective markers for the diagnosis of epilepsy. Furthermore, IED shapes and patterns are highly variable across individuals, yet trained experts are still able to identify them through EEG recordings - meaning that commonalities exist across IEDs that an algorithm can be trained on to detect and generalise to the larger population.

Objective: To identify the key constructs involved in addressing wicked problems, discover considerations for occupational therapists, and develop a conceptual model that supports how to address these problems.
Background: Clinically relevant models that enable certain tasks such as calibration of medical imaging devices or techniques, device validation, training healthcare professionals, and more are vital to research throughout the medical field and are referred to as phantoms. Phantoms range in complexity from a vile of water to complex designs that emulate in vivo properties.
Purpose: Specific phantoms that model the lungs have focused on replication of tissue properties but lack replication of the anatomy.
Netrin-1 is a bifunctional chemotropic guidance cue that plays key roles in diverse cellular processes including axon pathfinding, cell migration, adhesion, differentiation, and survival. Here, we present a molecular understanding of netrin-1 mediated interactions with glycosaminoglycan chains of diverse heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) and short heparin oligosaccharides. Whereas interactions with HSPGs act as platform to co-localise netrin-1 close to the cell surface, heparin oligosaccharides have a significant impact on the highly dynamic behaviour of netrin-1.
