After the legalization of abortion in 2018, Ireland needed clinicians to become abortion providers and make this political win a medical reality. Yet Irish doctors had next-to-no training in abortion care, and barriers ranging from stigma to economic pressures in the healthcare system impacted doctors' desire to volunteer. How did hundreds of Irish doctors make the shift from family doctor to abortion provider? Drawing on ethnographic research conducted between 2017 and 2020, this article explores the process by which Irish general practitioners became abortion providers, attending to the material impact of medical technologies on that journey.

Toxicology study for magnetic injection of prednisolone into the rat cochlea.

This paper investigates the safety of a novel 'magnetic injection' method of delivering therapy to the cochlea, in a rodent model. In this method of administration, a magnetic field is employed to actively transport drug-eluting superparamagnetic iron-oxide core nanoparticles into the cochlea, where they then release their drug payload (we delivered the steroid prednisolone). Our study design and selection of control groups was based on published regulatory guidance for safety studies that involve local drug delivery.

A case of pericentric inversion chromosome 9 with an associated personality disorder is reported. There is justification for a more widespread cytogenetic screening of psychiatric disorders of this type.

Static Pressure Measurements of Enclosure Fires.

Some enclosure-fire static pressure measurements are presented for both full and scale model rooms and are compared with the present hydraulics-orifice flow model for fire induced flows into and out of enclosures. Results indicate that the vertical pressure differential (enclosure to ambient) follows the expected hydrostatic distribution quite well and accurately reflects the doorway inflow and outflow gas velocities. Measurement of ceiling and floor differential pressure using different numbers of gas burners yields insight into gross plume entrainment and illustrates how the neutral plane and thermal discontinuity vary with upper gas temperature.
