Assessment of the correlation between the Vittel criteria and the ISS score: A novel approach to pre-hospital severe trauma patient's triage.

Unlabelled: Introduction-Aim: Validated triage tools such as the Vittel criteria are essential to improve the care of trauma patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the Vittel triage criteria and the Injury Severity Score (ISS) to improve the accuracy of pre-hospital triage.

Methods: We conducted a longitudinal study of all trauma patients transported by EMS over a two-year period (November 2021- November 2023).

Electrocardiograms (ECGs) can be affected by various factors and technical problems. It is rare for an artefact to be the cause of ST-segment elevation, especially in asymptomatic patients. An important distinction between true ST segment elevation caused by myocardial infarction and an artefact is that the baseline elevation in an artefact may begin before or after the appearance of the QRS complex.

Relativistic Asymmetric Magnetic Reconnection.

We derive basic scaling equations for relativistic magnetic reconnection in the general case of asymmetric inflow conditions and obtain predictions for the outflow Lorentz factor and the reconnection rate. Kinetic particle-in-cell simulations show that the outflow speeds as well as the nonthermal spectral index are constrained by the inflowing plasma with the weaker magnetic energy per particle, in agreement with the scaling predictions. These results are significant for understanding nonthermal emission from reconnection in magnetically dominated astrophysical systems, many of which may be asymmetric in nature.

Snakes and ladders: World development pathways' synergies and trade-offs through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This paper takes three global visions of world development to 2050 and quantifies their implications for sustainable progress employing the metrics of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDG outcomes are structured through the interconnectivities of the three 'wedding cake' layers of 'economy', 'society' and 'biosphere', as posited by the Stockholm Resilience Centre. The key policy contribution is to quantify the resulting SDG synergies and trade-offs, whilst also decomposing and calculating the part-worth of the market drivers which contribute to these outcomes.

Development of a bioeconomy monitoring framework for the European Union: An integrative and collaborative approach.

The EU Bioeconomy Strategy, updated in 2018, in its Action Plan pledges an EU-wide, internationally coherent monitoring system to track economic, environmental and social progress towards a sustainable bioeconomy. This paper presents the approach taken by the European Commission's (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC) to develop such a system. To accomplish this, we capitalise on (1) the experiences of existing indicator frameworks; (2) stakeholder knowledge and expectations; and (3) national experiences and expertise.

Waste not, want not: A bio-economic impact assessment of household food waste reductions in the EU.

Halving per capita food waste and reducing food losses along production and supply chains is one of the objectives fixed by the United Nations among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study employs a system-wide modelling approach, to simulate economic impacts of households' food waste reduction in 2030, focusing on the European Union. The paper provides market, food security, biophysical and environmental indicators resulting from food commodity specific waste reductions by EU households.

[Osteomalacia and giant cell tumor: a rare case].

Background: Oncogenic octeomalacia is an unusual and rare clinicopathologic syndrome characterized by mesenchymal tumors that apparently produce osteomalacia and biochemical abnormalities consisting of hypophosphatemia and normocalcemia.

Aim: We have investigated the mechanism by which a giant cell tumor of bone caused biopsy-proved osteomalacia in a 50-year-old woman.

Case Report: A 50-year-old woman presented with generalized bone and pelvicrural pain, associated with fatiguability and muscle weakness.

Osteomalacia in a patient with primary intestinal lymphangiectasis (Waldmann's disease).

Primary intestinal lymphangiectasis (PIL), also known as Waldmann's disease, is a rare protein-losing enteropathy characterized by abnormal enlargement of the lymphatic ducts in the bowel wall. The symptoms usually start in early infancy. We report a case of osteomalacia in a 63-year-old patient with delayed-onset of PIL, for which she was on dietary treatment.

[Prevalence of osteoporotic fractures in Tunisian women].

Purpose Of The Study: Osteoporotic fractures are an important public health problem due to significant morbidity and mortality and the socioeconomic burden. In Tunisia, the impact of such fractures is often underestimated due to lack of epidemiological data. We evaluated the prevalence of these fractures in a sample population at risk in order to better ascertain the amplitude of this problem in our country.

[Meningococcosis in Tunisia. Apropos of 80 cases].

Meningococcosis are nowadays an health problem because their incidence rate (38 cases/100,000 people in 1986 in Mahdia region) and a high death rate (40%) due to fulminating forms. At the occasion of a prospective study during the first six months of 1987, the authors report the emergence of C serogroup (21%), the smallness of A serogroup (6.50%) and the predominance of B serogroup (68%).
