Extended performance of cognitively demanding tasks induces cognitive fatigue manifested with an overall deterioration of behavioral performance. In particular, long practice with tasks requiring impulse control is typically followed by a decrease in self-control efficiency, leading to performance instability. Here, we show that this is due to changes in activation modalities of key task-related areas occurring if these areas previously underwent intensive use.

Materials And Methods: Rectangular-shaped specimens (7 × 3 × 2 mm) were produced with RC (Venus Diamond One, Kulzer) and GIC (Fujy IX GP, GC) (n = 30). Further, the following PDs were used on the specimens: (1) tablets (T; Plaq-Search, TePe); (2) mouthwash (M; Plaque Agent, Miradent); and (3) light-curing liquid (L; Plaque test, Ivoclar).
The current understanding of primate natural action organization derives from laboratory experiments in restrained contexts (RCs) under the assumption that this knowledge generalizes to freely moving contexts (FMCs). In this work, we developed a neurobehavioral platform to enable wireless recording of the same premotor neurons in both RCs and FMCs. Neurons often encoded the same hand and mouth actions differently in RCs and FMCs.

Participants were divided into two groups: vascular photobiomodulation (VPBM) and simulated VPBM. Their conditions were evaluated using the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), Visual Analogue Scale, and Headache Impact Test (HIT-6).

The experimental study of the stumble phenomena is essential to develop novel technological solutions to limit harmful effects in at-risk populations. A versatile platform to deliver realistic and unanticipated tripping perturbations, controllable in their strength and timing, would be beneficial for this field of study. We built a modular tripping-eliciting system based on multiple compliant trip blocks that deliver unanticipated tripping perturbations.

Our study aimed to evaluate the presence of immune cells and mediators in patients with RP using flow cytometric analysis of peripheral blood (PB) and aqueous humor (AH) samples. We recruited 12 patients with RP and nine controls undergoing cataract surgery.

There are different forms of IIM, each with peculiar clinical manifestations and prognosis. Accordingly, several autoantibodies have been described in IIM, with different prevalence in the different forms of the disease.

We aimed to design a new model of care for NCDs at the primary care level by conducting a multimodal system assessment and co-design of potential solutions in the province of Mendoza.
Methods: We carried out a mixed-methods study with 7 components: evaluation of patterns of care, patient focus groups, cross-sectional standardized population-based phone survey, an electronic cohort follow-up of patients with type 2 diabetes, in-depth interviews with stakeholders, a knowledge test for health care providers on chronic condition management, and a Delphi consensus to provide recommendations from stakeholders.
Impulsive-compulsive behaviors (ICB) are common non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD) often associated with dopaminergic drugs (DD) therapy. We investigated the acute effects of DD on decision-making in PD patients with ICB (ICB+) and without it (ICB-), and in healthy controls (HC). Participants performed a risk-based decision-making task twice, with PD patients tested before (DD OFF) and after (DD ON) DD intake.

This preliminary study on one patient aims to describe how these two stimulation modes affect basal ganglia dynamics and, thus, behavior in the long term. We collected clinical data (UPDRS-III and -IV) and subthalamic recordings of one patient with Parkinson's disease treated for one year with aDBS, alternated with short intervals of cDBS.

Introduction: Orofacial pain and tension headache are symptoms that affect a large portion of the population, compromising productivity, social ability, and functional development. The treatment for reducing painful sensation should be chosen carefully, as pharmacological treatment may bring side effects and overload the organism of patients in pain. Low-level laser therapy has been used with local and systemic [vascular] applications for pain control.

Individuals make active choices by bypassing their coverage and intended healthcare source. After the pandemic, we sought to characterize bypassing behaviors and quantify their effects on access to essential services.

The measurement of autoantibodies is a relevant aspect in the definition of classification criteria, with a significant weight in the scores necessary to classify patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases. The impact of autoantibodies has gradually increased over the years, contributing to the evolution and improvement of the classification criteria.

Methods: Three UCs (RelyX Universal, 3 M Oral Care - RXU; Panavia SA Cement Universal, Kuraray Noritake - PSAU; SoloCem, Coltene - SCM) and one 'gold-standard' multi-step cement (Panavia V5, Kuraray Noritake - PV5) were used following two polymerization protocols (light-cured - LC; self-cured - SC).
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of proanthocyanidin-functionalized hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (nHAp_PA) used as pretreatment at different concentrations on the microtensile bond strength (µTBS) and endogenous enzymatic activity (MMPs) on pH-cycled dentin after 24 h and 6 months of artificial aging.
Materials And Methods: Fifty human sound dentin blocks were randomly assigned to 5 groups (n = 10): (i) negative control (no treatment); (ii) positive control (pH-cycling); (iii) pH-cycling + 2% nHAp_PA for 60s; (iv) pH-cycling + 6.5% nHAp_PA for 60s; (v) pH-cycling + 15% nHAp_PA for 60s.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess the seating accuracy of resin composite CAD/CAM overlay restorations, employing various preparation designs and luting materials (pre-heated composite (HC) or resin cement (RC)).
Methods: A human molar's STL file was utilized to create 100 3D-printed resin tooth replicas, randomly distributed into 5 groups (n = 20) based on finishing line preparation designs: 1) Rounded shoulder above the dental equator - DE (SA); 2) Chamfer above the DE (CA); 3) Butt joint above the DE (BJ); 4) Rounded shoulder below the DE (SB); 5) Chamfer below the DE (CB). Digital impressions were acquired for all replicas, and restorations milled using Tetric CAD (Ivoclar Vivadent).

To investigate the effects of heavy-load strength training during (neo-)adjuvant chemotherapy in women with breast cancer on muscle strength, body composition, muscle fiber size, satellite cells, and myonuclei. Women with stage I-III breast cancer were randomly assigned to a strength training group (ST, n = 23) performing supervised heavy-load strength training twice a week during chemotherapy, or a usual care control group (CON, n = 17). Muscle strength and body composition were measured and biopsies from m.
